I saw TWO Formal Coupes along the highway!!
One of them was a rough/faded 72, and the other was a 71. I have a feeling that it was the low-mile Burnished Cinnamon car that was on ebay a few months back. I wasn't able to stop, but it had a sandalwood vinyl top and it looked like it was in great shape.
How often do you actually SEE these cars around town, let alone two of them in one day??
Rarely do you stumble on anything old driving around. Close by to where I live there is a 73 LeSabre, a 71/72 Electra that recently was in an accident, a black 72 Riv, 71/72 Skylark GS (daily driver), 65 Riv (parked), and that covers a few block radius. I would say every few months or so I see some other old big Buick out and about, very rarely.

Adam, the last two times I saw a '71 Formal Coupe on the road or parked on a street were:
1985 - downtown San Francisco (Burnished Cinnamon/ Sandalwood Vinyl Roof)
1985 - near the Denver airport (Willomist Green / Sandalwood Vinyl Roof)
In other words, these cars have virtually vanished from the highways!
I have seen a '72 Formal Coupe in Everett, Washington about three years ago. Nutmeg, Sandalwood vinyl roof, chrome road wheels, and the wide rocker moldings.
In contrast, I seemed to see the '71 / '72 Electra 225's in significant numbers on the Interstate well into the early 1990's. They have all but vanished now.
