New Trunk boards

I'm sending my original trunk boards to a reproduction company. I need to know if the coupes are the same as my convertible. Question #2 are any other years the same? I would think they would be the same for the LeSabres to 75. I don't know if 71-72 are the same? Any input would be greatly appreciated. I'll be sending them out this week. They should then be available in 4-6 weeks.

That sounds fascinating. I wonder if the boards are the same for all B-body GM.

I can't imagine why the Convertible would be different than the hardtop. Nothing the cardboard touches approaches the convertible top. The trunk lids, hinges and quarters are the same between the 2.

In 1973 there wasn't any cardboard along the bumper side of the trunk, just around the hinges and the inside of the quarter panels. Is that the same for 71 and 72?

I was considering making plastic versions. Convertible trunks eventually get wet, it seems inevatible. Cardboard and wood are common but they don't do well when wet. I was hoping black plastic with a wrinkle texture, or surfaced with acrylic carpet would hold up better.

I remember someone at this forum, think it was gr Speedy (Foti), who had a catalogue that showed parts which are interchangeable between different GM cars.
Don’t know if the trunk boards would be listed in that, but if they were it would answer your question.

Thanks. It looks like after some digging the boards will fit all 71-76 cars. The 71-72 cars would still need the boards for the back of the trunk.

Would they fit the four door?
The Centurion I'm getting from Randy is in need of all trunk trim, carpeting and matting, spare tire cover and the cardboard sides.
It's been a long time but from what I can remember the cardboard trim in the trunks were pretty much identical for 1971 and 1973.
I know they were a pain in the butt. They came apart and were easily bent by luggage and stuff.

They should fit the 4 doors. The quarters are the same from the wheel house back.
