do i have original miles?

I was wondering if there is anyway to tell if my odometer is original miles or not. When I bought the car the odometer read 55364. The guy told me it was original miles. Anyway to be sure? I tried a carfax report but it wont allow me to continue cause the vin number is too short. I know nothing about the history of the car. Any advice? (its a 72 centurion convertible)

It can be tough to verify mileage without receipts of oil changes, etc. There are some ways to "indicate" mileage, such as brake pedal wear, steering tightness, shocks, interior condition....and more.
