paintforcars.com has some good pricing on paint.
I bought their metallic purple, and unbelievably it matches my factory honda majestic purple paint really well.

I paid $300 for primer and paint,$50 at harbour freight for a spray gun kit,and $38 for a 10 x 10 tent off amazon.com.
This was my first experience spraying paint and I'm pretty happy with the results.
I could have done a better job with some better lighting.

I intend to start body work on my centurion next spring and maybe rent a spray booth, and give the old Buick some fresh paint before I start with the rest of it's restoration.

I only used half a gallon of primer, base, and clear painting my four fenders, four saddlebags, four lids, and other parts.
I also painted both sides of the fenders, and gave three coats of everything,to each surface.

I figure less than $600 to completely shoot the Centurion.
Gallon kits of base coat/clear run about $200 each(2 needed).
Primer runs about $70-$90 per gallon (2 needed).

Great looking bike Gas! You are a brave man.... I've got zippo skill in the paint dept. I can wash and wax it, but spray it?? Not a Prayer!

You did a great job there. Like Steve I would love to know how to paint and do body work, but unfortunately cannot do it.

I did try it ...."once"

Did some small body work and painted my GS way back in 1981 (same GS I still own today) Well let's just say I painted it "Block Away Blue" It looked great a block away:eek: I ended up having it re-painted Firethorne Red two years later...by professionals. That was the extent of my attempt to do body work.

Like Clint Eastwood once said, "A mans got to know his limitations" :)

Thanks for the kind words,I had no choice to paint the bike myself.
I don't have $1500 laying around for a paint job.
The hardest part is sanding all those parts,I imagine sanding the centurion will take a while.

If you guys never wet sanded, the clear takes a while to break down, once you get past the clear, you just need to smooth the base color, removing any scratches using 220 then 600 grit paper.

My Centurion has been repainted once I believe,so I'm probably going to use chemical stripper. The bike had some plastic parts that cannot be blasted or stripped chemically,so it was sand, sand, sand.

Even if I did mess the paint job up,it was worth the money for the experience of learning how to spray the paint and use an air gun.My Centurion is quite faded,so I have really nothing to lose but $600.
:beers:
