After I had read this topic on V8Buick: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=155565

I got a bit scared, because on both corners behind my own windscreen I can see some rust in the dash... I will not touch this for a period because I have enough work on the rest of the car, and when it's not broke, just don't fix it (and because it's garaged, it won't get worse). When I will check the rust sometime and it's like in the topic on v8Buick, I want to replace to whole piece. Ok, now the question, which cars do have the same shape there? Only the fullsize Buicks or also Chevy's and Oldsmobiles of example? When much cars do have the same shape on the body, I can try to find a donor on a scrapheap for this job. I hope this story is clear. :confused4::laugh:

You shouldn't have the same kind of damage you saw in that other thread. The late 60's - 1970 A-body's had some kind of foam between the windshield and the frame that absorbed water and rotted the metal.

I don't think the B-Bodies suffered from the same problem.

I would remove the trim and inspect the area closely. Rust progresses geometrically, the longer it goes that faster it grows. I think you'll find it's probably surface rust now and a bit of scraping, and painting will stop it.

If the rust is as bad as that thread you'll want to know before you spend much more money on other repairs.

Good Luck and let us know what you find.
