Well the event was great. Towing from home was about 9 hours each way. Gas:bawl: $4.20 a gallon for the good stuff and I got a wopping 9 mpg towing:bawl:. But hell it was worth it.

The racecar ran consistantly 9.50's and nothing broke:beers:. My Centurion ran flawless! Temp guage stayed fixed at 200 the entire trip when towing, and kept up with the big rigs.

Next trip will be the BPG Natioanls in Ohio early August. Another 9 hour ride (each way)

It probably isn’t much comfort but we pay 8.5 dollar per US gallon over here. This Sunday I bought gas for 90 dollars and used most of it the very same afternoon by going to my hometown see some friends and cruise around :rooleyes2:

Oh, whatīs that ? Have you seen the rear tire of your race car, Rick ? Seems as if a little bit more gas and the tire could be winded around the rim !!

Your race car is a real jumper and guess you have to be careful not to be jumped too far with it; we donīt want to have to search you somewhere !!;)

Wish youīll have always the correct feeling in your gas-foot, Rick !

Yeah I guess your right about crying for gas. You guys had to deal with the high prices for a long time now. I definitely feel your pain with that. I guess on the good side of things (if there is any) you can say with the high cost of fuel you end up driving your Centurion less, which lessons the chance of an unfortunate fender bender or wear and tear on the car.

As for the tires. They are slicks with no tubes run on 7 1/2" of tire pressure. The tires are screwed to the rims where the tire beads meet the rims. 32 screws per tire. Seeing that tire wrinkle tells me I should have upped the tire pressure just slightly maybe another pound. I attached a video of the car running down the track. In the video I lost a header collector, as you see it shooting out off the starting line. It was a quick fix before I ran again.

Rick,

Happy to hear you had a great time. I was actually in Akron at the time you guys were at Norwalk. I was trying to stop by on Saturday, but my boss shipped me to Dayton and I had to go straight home to the family.

Hope I can see both your cars in Columbus in August. Trying to see if the wife wouldn't mind driving the Centurion out there.

:xyxthumbs:

I may way to throw in the 3.42 posi til after August meet. 2.78 are more highway friendly.

Will

Itīs new to me that tires can be screwed to the rims. Interesting !

But anyway, it looks dangerous how the tire gets folded during your jump when starting the race; higher pressure is a must but could reduce contact to the street in the later part of the race because more pressure forms the tires more to an "U", so you have to search for the optimum between the effect of folded tires and street contact.

Everything turns out to be real science if one comes to the limits of normality.

Normality?? That's why I skip it. It's overrated and takes too much work to get there! It's much more enjoyable being "outside" the lines!

Rick - great video.... man oh man, she screams down the track. If you would have had that extra pound of pressure, would your times have gone down a fraction or so?? Very cool to watch. When are you coming to Cecil County again this summer? Maybe if I put it on the calendar now, I can make it happen! We're only 30-45 minutes away. Plus it's an all Buick event, so they'll even let me in the gate!

$8.50 a gallon Per?? You gotta be kidding me. I guess us Yank's ought to quit bitching about $4.20 a gallon!! It's a good thing you're independently wealthy!!!
