Guys,

Now that the weather is good, I have taken out my Centurion, but realize I really need tunes. The stock 8track is not cutting it. Any suggestions? When the top is open, it buries the rear speakers and they are worthless.
Reception is bad. Anyone using the custom autosound radios? If you have something interesting, please post photos.:confused4:

Thanks..Will

I got my car with this unit and a 10 CD changer in the trunk. Keeps the original dash bezel so no need to cut anything.

It may be in that thread that Adam posted.... I installed my stereo in the glove box, two speakers under the dash and two in the side panels armrests in the back seat. (there are cutouts for them there)
Left the original in the dash and it lights up, though it doesn't play.

Good luck!

Steve,

For the 2 speakers under dash, were you able to to use old brackets that held original speakers in? Could you post a photo of the rear speakers in side panels? I am torn. I want modern sound with little to no indication of change from stock.

I had a crazy idea of buying Riviera boattail headrests, gutting them and putting speakers in them and then laying them on top of rear seats. Thought it might look factory. Still toying with the idea.

Hey will - that's an idea, but it won't look stock. It might look good, but not stock..... the speakers under the dash - no, we affixed new brackets aiming the speakers down towards the floor. Truthfully, the sound isn't the greatest from them. At least that's the what I thought. Then I played with the fader and they became very nice sounding. I'll post pics of the rear early next week. They're calling for 2 inches of rain between tonight and Sat night, so my gal won't be coming out to play for a while. But when I do, I'll shoot a pic and post for you. My interior is black, as are the screens of the speakers. So you they don't jump out you as one might expect... I know there are guys on here that cringed when I said I cut holes in my arm rests, but the holes are there, so perhaps this was a dealer option back in the day? I don't know, but a pair of 5 or 6 inchers bolted in there nicely!!! More to come... by the way, the stereo I bought has an i-Pod attachement as well, so I get radio (lousy reception b/c of the windshield antenea), CD and now i-Pod. Nothing like jamming the 70's with 00's sound quality!!! :Brow:
