Some of you have seen my very long thread over at v8-forum about this, but for the rest I recently completed a triple Gauge installation which has been a bit of a challenge for me.
No 1 was to find out what kind of gauges to use (decided on electrical), second was finding out how to install them without messing up too much and third to get the correct fittings which showed to be the hardest part living in metric land like me, but great people like Brian (Centurion) and Dale (Sweepspear) came through and helped me, so special thanks to them who made this possible! :xyxthumbs:

Removed the triple connected temp vacuum switch on the intake (carb, dist and canister) since I needed to put the temperature sending unit for the gauge there. I put the wire inside a vacuum hose to protect it as well as bring back a little of the stock look.

As you can see on this picture I have re-connected carb, dist and canister (thick hose) again but without the switch now. Idling is slightly high (after removing tvs) as long as the engine is cold, then it gets back to normal. Need to do something about this…:confused2: ...otherwise it works fine

Looks good, Per ! Seems as if you installed the gauges to the ashtray, right ?
Interesting also the pics of your engine; it (1973) differs a bit from mine (1971) in some details and guess it´s a bit more complicated - perhaps that´s because of extra parts necessary to ensure clean air (exhausts etc.).

Yes Rolf, I installed the gauge bracket on the lower part of the ashtray. I gave up smoking years ago and even if I still did, the Centurion would be a non-smoking zone
I did cut the cables long enough to open the ashtray though

First I thought about placing my gauges to that place (at the ashtray) also because the room in the near of the accelerator is small and one have to install cables and in my case the oil tube very careful away from the acting foot.
But in spite of that I placed the gauges there because I was anxious about the oil tube of the oil pressure gauge when moving it fore and back with the ashtray. I use my ashtray for some little personal parts which are to get easier from here than from the glove box. I installed the oil tube high enough to feel sure not to kick it with the foot, but it´s a risk of course.

Hi,
Also I will install 2 gauges for T water and oli pressure..
ok for oil pressure,
but for water temp, is more easy screwing a "T" connector (as the oil sensor)?? (where I make a blue circle in the picture...if this already exist is a sensor of water. )
is possible don't touch the temp vacuum switch on the intake ??

I was advised to avoid a T-fitting for the gauge temp sending unit because you could easier get incorrect values on the gauge that way. Guess the water could cool down a bit in a brass-T compared with measuring direct on the intake.
The blue circle you’ve made is arround the sending unit to the first hot engine warning light (think its called “Hot Engine” or similar).
The sending unit for the second hot engine warning light (think that’s called “Stop Engine”) is placed at the back of one of the heads.
You will find a LOT of info in this thread on the gauge installation subject
