I have a 1971 Centurion convertible and I'm looking for a good used or new OEM hood release cable. Mine still works but it won't for long due to kinks and stretching. I've checked TAPerformance and Buick V8 but can't seem to find one. I don't know which other cars (LeSabre, Electra, etc.) may work so any advice is welcomed. Anyone out there know where I can find one???

Thanks....

Collectors Auto Supply shows at least 1 in stock for about $60.00. Go to: http://www.collectorsautosupply.com/ , search by part number and put in part number 6262345. It will take you to the proper page. This cable was used by many full size GM cars in the 71-74 time frame including Electras, some Olds models and others.

Thanks Brad. Got one ordered and bookmarked the sight for future needs. They also have NOS dash plates, pricey but brand new and way cheaper than having them refinished.

I'm still trying to find a good, useable hood release cable. The place that showed them had a problem with their inventory and they didn't have any after all. Anyone else out there know of a source???

Thanks,
Scott

I keep seeing one NOS cable on ebay from time to time. I need one, but not real bad. I may look for a used one when the time comes. Most of the ones on my cars are always broken at the coupling at the top of the wheel well.

That's right where mine is hanging up. I took it off to detail the engine bay and noticed how kinked it was but it hasn't worked as well since I put it back on. One of the places I called (from Hemmings) told me there are places that will make one but none of them look as good as the original. Collector's auto supply has a trace out for one so we'll see.
On another subject, I really enjoyed seeing how you did your trunk. Mine is solid but looks just as barren as your old one. It gave me some good ideas. I'd like to send some pictures of the engine, tranny and exhaust work just done but my pictures are too large. I know you can format them but I hate to ask. Rather, can you tell me what I need to do so I can send pictures from time to time? Thanks.

I'd love to see some pictures of your work. I hope to start on my Centurion soon...I'm getting anxious, but need to make sure I get some other things in order, first.

I just use Photoshop to resize the pictures...not everyone has this option, though.

I'd be happy to resize them for you if you want - send them to adamm@buickpartsdirectory.com

Check out this link for other phot resizing options:
