hey guys, i am considering replacing the rear bumper on the 73,the top surface has some light fade on it. getting it replated is basically ridiculous due to the turnaround time to do it.ive been told up to 4 months!!a cost of probably $600 to $750 depending on what quality i want, sounds like fun! to buy a used one and replate it was a thought, but then they want $300 for a used one and do the math. ridiculous! does anyone know of any good bumper sources where i can buy one already done, ive heard of mixed reviews about the bumper boyz in california. any feedback there? if i cant find a nice one ,ill live with what i have. phil

I have one. IT will need to be rechromed but last time i looked it was straight. The rubber pieces are not good. If interested let me know nothing is too low.

One thing to consider here. I recently spoke to a guy who owns a 65 Riv. He was complaining that he bought a front bumper that was re-chromed and paid some big bucks. The bumper appeared straight and looked good, But it was slighly tweaked where is comes extremely close to the body on one corner so that on road bumps it rubs on the body.

I too want to re-chrome my 73 bumpers and I even have an extra set. I was thinking on sending them out until I spoke to the guy with the Riv. It would suck big time spending big bucks and the bumper may be tweaked. So I decided to leave the extra bumpers as such, extra in case of the unspeakable that then I will have to use them.

I will wait until this late fall when I put my Centurion away for the winter. I'll remove the bumbers and send them out during the winter months. This way I know they will fit when I get them back. Oh and before you send them out, scribed them on the underside with your name. I have heard on occassion that bumpers were switched and the returned re-chromed ones didn't fit properly. Plus let the company know that you scribed your bumpers that you want "yours" re-chromed and sent back.

For you guys that keep the cars out all year. I would then get the extra bumper and mount it on your car to be sure it fits properly, then ship it out. Yes its a lot of work, but spending close to a grand is way too much to take a chance.

I bought a NOS bumper years ago from the Buick Farm. They may have another.

I bought a NOS bumper years ago from the Buick Farm. They may have another.thanks for the response. nope , i checked out buick farm first and its amazing how scarce parts for 73s are , most exterior trim and die cast is virtually non existant. i pray that i dont have any mishaps with this car ,otherwise its going to be a long tough road, parts wise!
