Hey guys,

What has to modified on a 72 buick 455 when I want to remove the EGR with the air pump and all other stuff they installed.

I heard there are some mods to the heads required because the 72 heads are different than the pre 72 heads. What´s the difference? And what has to be changed. I saw that the guy I bought my Edelbrock intake from has closed the runner that is located in the middle of the intake on both sides.

Is that required?

What has to be done to install that correctly??

Is there nothing to do? Just bolt that intake on the 72 smog heads and go??

Which Edelbrock intake? Performer or B4B?

Performer. But what´s the difference in the installation?

Some of the B4B intakes do not cover the AIR holes in the heads when the intake is installed. The Performer should cover them.

So I just have to use a 72 manifold gasket and the manifold will close the AIR holes?
What´s the reason for the "heat riser" some manifolds have? Just to warm up faster? I have to ask this because the previous owner of my performer intake closed this (welded). The welding is well done. After welding he had the manifold at the machine shop and they made a new smooth surface.

The exhaust crossover heats the choke. Unless you use an electric or manual choke, yours will not function well. I have the same setup on my car, with the crossover blocked. My choke works, but not well.
