Well, Saturday I sold the bike for Something I was very happy with, though in a way, It kinda killed me to see her go.
Today I was coming home from work, thinking of new body work and a paint job for the Red Barron, I just got off the highway and a semi pulled out of a gas station a t-boned me in the passenger door as I was cruising by at about 45 mph.
When my brain got done sloshing around, I wondered why I was sitting halfway in a parking lot, (Of a strip bar if you can believe it, the impact put there, so I claim:) ) realized wtf had just happened, knocked the glass off me, limped out of Big Blue and realized she will probally be declared totalled by the insurance company.
I spent 2 hours in the hospital getting x-rays, as I was hurting mo-fo. They said everything is good, had some good bruising, normal from sealtbelts they said (WEAR YOUR SEALBELTS!!!!!) but be ready for tommorrow, as thats when it'll kick in :(
So sadly now, I need to strike 2 rides off my tag
Wear your sealtbelt folks
God Bless
Here's to you, Big Blue, you were my true love. 160k and ran like the wolves!!! (I'll post some damage pics tommorrow)

That was it. My GF (now wife to be.... ) has a Volvo S60 that I'll be commadeering. Nice fast car with the turbo, but to many options for me and a little to small for my big ass (6'2 240 lbs). She owns a floral shop and has a new dodge delivery van that she can take home or use as needed. I'd take the van, personally, but she need's it for deliveries.
I actually have my eye on a used 2001 BMW 740. Not really into the whole beemer thing, but, they get high mileage, which I need. I work in Chicago and put 106 miles a day (+ or - ) on my rides

I just sold my 530ia that has basically the same engine type as the 740 (V8 from 1992-…)
Got mine as a six year old car with 90k miles and rather loaded with options.
These cars can charm any driver and challenge those who think they are fast drivers to show what they are made of, in other words easy to get a speeding ticket or lose the license  .
The transmission (mine was automatic) felt odd for me in the beginning in the way it operated since it was kind of sliding between gears, but you get used to it.
Mileage is rather fair considering the power of the engine but spare part prices a darker chapter in the book.

Robroy, how many miles were you able to put on it and did you have any major problems with it?
Anyway, heres some new pics. I tried to buff it out, but didn't work to good :) . I've been told, because of the year and mileage on the car, they will probally just total it.

I drove it for about 55k and the biggest issue I had was a transmission breakdown, but that showed to be caused by a workshop that had put in incorrect parts. Got real expensive and I was really  :Blasting: :Blasting:  since this happened just when I bought the car and this was the most expensive car I had owned at that time.
Other than that rather ok, it empties the battery rather quick if the car is not driven for while, could be better on the newer one’s (mine 1993). Oil change’s gets expensive since you have almost the double oil quantity. Electrical it can get a little goofy sometimes, but normally it can get fixed fairly easy with a little patience
These cars are special and takes some getting used to, I like the looks on the 7-serie from 1994- 2001, it’s a really good looking car!
Gosh, it was quite a hit you took there…..

Good God, you're a lucky man Gut! That could have been so much worse!
Thank the good Lord above my man...
I am guessing she's totaled as well. If you want, you may have the option to buy her back and repair her yourself. This is usually an option, but it's hard to say b/c I don't know the laws and insurance regulations in your area/State. If I can help, let me know.
Just send over a Private Message if you need me.

Lucky nothing happened to you. I would opt for 5 series cheaper in the long run and hold their values better than the 7 series. I had about 14 years ago a 91 750 and i still damn the minute i bought it (after that BMW i swor never to buy an expensive car in my life). ONE SHOCK $950. Most expensive car to maintain that i ever had. My dad had a Porsche 928 S4 and was cheaper to servive. However i love BMW's ....... just bought (yesterday) a summer beater for my wife 91 325i convertible. Anyone who wants a 91 VW Cabriolet ???? ;-) Tip: let the insurance pay you out buy it back from them. You only need a door a fender and windshield. I would say from the pics that you'll need about 2-3 hours frame work pulling the A-pillar door hinges and probably a little on the door pillar. Small shops including parts shouldn't charge you more than $1300.00

Thanks for the well wishes and input on those BMW's. Sorry I wasn't able to get back yesterday, put was a pretty hectic day. I did have time to do some research on those 750 and was really surprised at all the trouble people had with them and how $$$$$ they are to maintain.
I went to my credit union and they have a really good car program, where you tell them what you want, how much you want to spend and they'll get it for you. If the car comes from auction, they run a vehicle history and have it inspected by thier mechanic, put new tires on if needed, paint touch up and detailing. I think I'll be calling him back today. WIth my choice.
I think I've finally got it narrowed down from bmw's, hemi chargers, 300c's etc, etc. To a long time 'I want one of those' cars, that are now pretty cheap and I won't mind if it's a throwaway car for me, as I usally run them into the ground. I'm planning on a 2001-2005 Deville. Don't really care about the model, though I'm not a gadget man, so the base would be fine with me. A nice big heavy car that I caould feel safe in.
Yesterday I kept thinking about the effing front of that semi breaking through my passenger window and realized that's why I love my gas hog American sedans. That Marquis took a blast and I still ended up driving her home. To be honest, 49% wants to get another Marquis, but, I bought Big BLue with 40k on her and put 120k in her in the time I had her, so I'm ready for a change.
Phil, it's not even the Bird I was thinking about, I just thank The Big Man I wasn't on the effing motorcycle, or no more Gutrat. I also thank him for giving me enough mental capacity to remember to put my SEATBELT ON!!! I'm sooo glad I was wearing it, and am proud of the bruise across my chest!
Anyway, getting ready to fight with thier insurance company for my rental car to use in the meantime. Take care and will keep you folks updated.
P.S. Phil, It's Todd :)

You haven’t considered a Seville STS? That model would probably be closer to Beamer style in road holding etc, think I red somewhere that Cadillac designed that car to appeal to European customers.
I drove a Deville rental between Dallas and Waco once, must have been 2001. I liked the car and the Northstar engine but the suspension was way too soft for me, much softer than the Centurion. The seats were also too soft since our backs were aching after that long ride…
Regarding the cost of owning a BMW, the 750 is really worst case since its V12 engine.
Going down to a 740 or even 730 would make a lot of difference.
A big part of the cost is the service for which they charge you big time if you go to the local BMW workshop. I found my self an independent mechanic that had BMW as his speciality (former BMW mechanic) and already that cut down the service cost to half. Next step was to learn from him to make easy jobs like oil changes, filter replacements etc yourself.
Later I also downsized the tires going from stock 225/60/15 to 205/65/15. This got me down on the tire cost and the car is almost nicer and quieter to drive and get better mileage too…

P.S. Phil, It's Todd :)todd, good luck with your car shopping endeavor, it will divert your attention for a bit, it can be both pleasant and a pain in the ass at the same time. if that merc gave you such great service and you obviously liked it ,and its track record is proven in the case of both durability and safety.id consider another one on one hand, but after an ordeal like that id be on the fence too! last year i witnessed a horiffic accident involving a speeding semi and a woman in an infinity suv on a cell phone, she ran the red light and as she crossed the intersection this semi came out of nowhere! needless to say it t boned her on the drivers side dragged her like a train sideways across the intersection,up and over a 3 foot high curb and they landed 75 feet or so in a wooded area. i was in total disbelief over what i saw, plus i was behind her when she ran the light, but i stopped! 4 other cars were hit with flying debris. it was a nightmare out of hell. when i got out of my car to go and help i literally could not stand up, i was like spaghetti.i couldnt even speak, all i did was studder and try to get words out .they actually had to bring me water! and they gave me oxygen too.i felt so damn guilty because i couldnt run across the street to help,it bothered me for months. she didnt make it,but her 3 year old granddaughter in the passenger rear seat was unhurt. the truck driver was unhurt but very shaken. all this over a f------ cell phone! god bless!

UPDATE:
Hey folks, been pretty busy for awhile, just thought I'd give an update.
The car was declared totalled by the insurance company and yet it still sits bringing down the property value of the nieghborhood.
I hooked up with a nieghbor of mine who's a salesman at the local GM dealership, as I was eyeing a car out there.
He gave me a deal to sweet to pass up, he showed me the actual papers on the car and I walked (drove) out of a car dealership with a 2003 car, 55k on the odometer and a 2yr 50k bumper to bumper GM warrenty, A car that has always been on my "man, I want one of those" list and for the first time in my life, a smile on my face after being at a dealership.
So without further ado, I'd like to Introduce Big Red.
Big Red doesn't replace Big Blue, as she was a real true love of mine, but with Big red, I think of Big blue a hell of alot less :)

Nice caddy, I too like the color and the sunroof is a cool option which I assume is not so common on a car like this…?
Good luck with it!
