my mother decided a few weeks ago that she wanted a new car,she currently has a 2003 lesabre with 31,000 miles on it.car is perfectly fine,i told her we would sell it privately as a dealer would give her squat for it.so we started looking at cars, this is not something i enjoy anymore to say the least!the whole thought of the lot lizard salesmen thing makes me sick.last june i bought a new monte carlo ss, which i ordered and was very lucky to even get since i was one of the last orders taken since the car was discontinued, a smart move! leave it to gm to drop the big 2 door cars, and with a5.3 v8 with 303 hp yet! since i ordered it through a friend ,that was a more pleasant experience.so we looked..and looked..and looked ..until the thrill was gone.heres what i came up with, a lincoln mkz, cadillac cts,and a buick lucerne. i am not an import guy, never was ,never will be period.no disrespect intended ,thats just me!im really not thrilled with any of them, and she will go along with anything i say, thats a scary thought!the lincoln wasnt bad,its just a madeover mercury milan! which actually looks better than the lincoln!the cadillac i could take or leave, i like the dts deville better, but she claims it feels too clumsy(we drove them all!)than comes the lucerne, again im lukewarm with new buicks in general, even though they are trying to revamp their image, it just aint happening as far as i can see. the car is nice enough from the front , nice bold grille, sides look ok and then you get to the rear!its like what the hell happened! they forgot to finish it. it looks like a volkswagoon passat or a 2000 something chevy cavalier !the interior is decent, again gm has a ways to go with interior materials. the steering wheel is the same exact steering as my 07 monte carlo, only with a different emblem!ha !my mother being mrs buick likes the car. fair enough. and the lacrosse the same thing, except they stuck the back of a 62 skylark on it sans the die cast molding! anyway does anyone have an opinion one way or another on the lucerne.id really hate to see my mom get stuck in another fartbowl! this isnt what i call fun.id like to hear anything anyone has to say.happy easter to all! phil

A 2003 with 31000 miles for sale for a newer............... i can't read anymore...... got to go and cry.yeah, i know, a perfectly good car! my mom has had a real tough year with losing both my dad and grandmother so i figure it might be a good thing to do to get her back into the swing of things. it does bother me a bit since the 03 lesabe was the last car my dad picked out and bought for her! but, if thats what it takes for her to be happy, god bless!

I had a business trip to San Diego last week, and when I arrived I was given the option of a Lucerne or a Mustang convertible. I chose the Lucerne for two reasons:

1) I'm 6' 3" and don't feel very comfortable with the interior room of the Mustang.
2) The projected highs for the week were in the low to mid 60's.

I wanted to like the Lucerne more than I did. The darn thing had some strange squeeks and rattles that I wouldn't expect in a rental with only about 15K on it. Oh well, I know rentals get some hard use, and maybe my experience isn't that valid. I just wish I had liked it a little more.

Hey Phil - I feel your pain..... Not to mix things up too much, but GMC just rolled out a new cross over too. The Arcadia. It's a very nice car from what I have seen. I've researched them a bit b/c my bride drives an Envoy XL and though it's a great car, the gas mileage is not good. I drive a Yukon XL and having two pigs in the family is getting a bit tough. We have 4 kids, so we need something that holds 6-7... I like the CTS too. It seems to be similar to the Arcadia. Haven't even looked at the Linc simply b/c it's a Ford product. Nothing against them, they just don't do it for me... Good luck. Not an easy endeavor! We're still in the is it worth it stage. The Envoy has all of 24,000 miles on her and my bride loves the car.

I have one year left on my lease on my Altima. This is my 2nd Altima and I can honestly say this has been one of the best cars I've ever owned.
But just 12 months from now I will be in the market for another car.
I need something in a small station wagon or SUV type of vehicle.
What I want is a convertible like the Pontiac G6, Audi A4, Chrysler Sebring, Mustang GT, Saturn Sky or Pontiac Solstice. Except I won't be able to get in or out of the two roadsters. LOL! I'm not that bendy anymore. And the Sebring looks like it was designed by a bunch of guys who don't like cars.
While I would rather be hunting down that elusive Centurion I am going to have to hunting down the perfect new car.
And unless they re-release some Buick convertibles that look like the glorious 1971-1975 models I'm going to have to settle on my Nissan Rogue or Saturn SUV.
