I stumbled on this 71 in a yard.

I couldn't spend too much time with it since I had to meet up with the guy that had brought my front clip, there are some good bits and pieces on it.

I did take the rear seat belts since I don't have any in my car, the fan shroud, the trunk letters, and that's it I'm afraid. There are a bunch of nice pieces left on this which I would have liked to take... time was against me.

No posi, no 4 note horns, no "W" in vin.. complete car otherwise.. lots of good stuff:Dou:

I see a passenger side rearview mirror that looks correct. I'm sure that someone here could use that.

correct, it was a little pitted on the top, and the mirror looked a bit foggy, but I didn't really take a close enough look.

Also fender emblems, really nice black door panels, other small bits and pieces..

There wouldn't be a letter designation in the VIN for the engine option in 71.

The rear bumper looks nice and straight.

If you look beneath the left light you'll see that the chrome is shot, otherwise it was straight.

Brian beat me to it. That right side mirror will make you a few bucks. Hell, I'll take the gasket if it's not dry rotted. I guess you gotta decide if you want to put any effort into parting her out. My guess is there are some guys on here that could use some stuff from her. UNLESS, you're going to get her running and have two toys?!?! :Brow:

hmm...if gr_speedy can't find the trim piece he thinks he has, I could use the lower rear quarter trim piece behind the drivers side wheel.

Kimson,
If you go back to the yard for any additional items off this car, would you also document it for the registry if time allows?

Thanks.....

I got pics of the VIN and cowl.. It's like 40 miles away, and I can't make it out there for a week or two,, I wish I had as much free time as I had before, then I would go back out there tomorrow.

It is held onto the bottom with screws, and then lifts off the clips attached to the body.

Kimson, I'd be interested in the grille, including the matching grille-ettes in the bumper, if all are staight and not pitted, etc.

Thanks in advance either way,
Steve.

I just hate to see late sixties early seventies at the boneyard.

I agree, I hate to see these grand old girls winding up in the parting out years of their lives.....It would be kinder just to shoot them.
But then again, think of the organs they are donating to those other old girls in need.

The color looks like dark blue or is it teal mist gray?

Thanks for grabbing the VIN and data plate info, Kimson. If you make it back to the boneyard and care to do so, please list all the options and equipment you can see. If you get the information and send it to me, I'll be glad to prepare the submission for it.

Thanks for your help on this and it sounds like some of the other guys may be keeping you busy to save some of the good parts as well.

If that RH fender mirror looks like it would clean up, I'd be interested. Also, did you notice if it has an AM/FM radio? I'd like one of those, too. Thanks.

I might be able to do a quick stop there on Saturday; I'll be driving past there heading for the desert for a 4x4 event, which the company said I could join.

If you get a chance to stop by there, I'd appreciate it. Have fun with the 4x4's!
