edit note: Just realized that this should have gone into the Help/Advice forum. Sorry! Adam, please feel free to move this.

My Centurion goes into Eric Bernard's shop tomorrow for some loving care, and, among the items on the list is the ventilation blower/fan. Eric's shop specializes in Volvo and Porsche, but Eric's first love is vintage Buicks.

My car has the original blower, never replaced, and it has, for several years, squawked intermittently. My understanding is that the fans become dirty, unbalanced, and scrape against the sides of their housings.

I ignored this for years, but it was unbearable this evening when I drove the car to the filling station. It's not possible, of course, to turn the fan off completely.

I know that accessing these is a royal pain, but, aside from that, here's my question:

Can these blowers be cleaned and lubricated to eliminate the squawking, or must they be replaced?

If they must be replaced, does anyone have a parts resource for these?

Thanks in advance for your help.

(By the way, while my Centurion is in his shop, Eric will be giving me a cool service loaner to store in my garage. I'll be driving home tomorrow in a 21,000-mile original 1961 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 with a 3-speed manual transmission. The Olds will look cool in my garage alongside the '59 Electra!)
