On the dutch Buick forum a guy put on a self made video which shows Rick's race car a few times! Also with the door flying off at 9:30.

The filmer has a Buick 1972 GSX wich has ET's of 11.7 seconds.:beers:

This was way COOL! :D
I recognized several cars from the V8 forum on the film and also Rick Martinez peach race car with the big air intake on the hood! I didn’t see the whole thing, only to the part where Rick’s door came off….

Thanks for posting it Michel :xyxthumbs:

Norwalk/Buick Race Day is one of the best Buick racing events put on every year...if any of you are interested in the Buick racing scene, check it out in 2008.

I only get a little time off in the Summer, so I have to choose my vacation wisely. I'll be at the 2008 BPG event in August!

That is a great video! I forgot that he got that video shot when my door skin flew off and hit Randy's car. True racers we are we both stayed in it not letting up! Randy did a great job keeping his cool when the window frame smashed into his windshield. We got up at 6am the next morning and off we both went roadtrip to Cleveland in my Centurion and I got him a new windshield. Funny part of it is we located a company that had FIVE new '69 windshields, thanks to Dave Shaker's GPS. A guy in Buffalo, NY who was at the event happend to be searching for a windshield for his '69. What luck he had finding us! So we picked up an extra one for him and also picked up a complete steel door for my GS (a loaner from Randy). I put the top down we layed in the steel door (on top of blankets) across the back seat and the two wrapped up windshields right on top of the door. I then put the top back up and we were on our way. Love those big Buicks!!

Meanwhile at the hotel the dedicated Buick guys prepped both our cars for the replacement parts. And we were ready and done by noon time. That is what it's all about. Having a great time and helping each other out!

My doors are fiberglass and the maker had used a cheap bonding agent which over time had stress cracks in the seams. Once the wind caught the inside of the door it just pealed the skin, lexan window and window from right off the car at the 1/8 mile mark (about 120 mph). Biggest shock was the door skin skidded in an upright position across the track just missing Randys rear quarter and it just layed down with little to no damage! It was the window frame that flew up in the air and came crashing down on his car.
