To rebuild or buy new is the question of the day... I've got a carb that is only running on 2 barrels. Getting decent gas mileage but giving up power and she's terrible off the line. Really bogs down for a few seconds... It's my winter project. Ok, it's one of my winter projects... :Brow:
My buddy, who is also a grease monkey is saying we'll rebuild her. I'm fine with this unless you all have learned a lesson doing this that I haven't learned yet. It's a pretty simple thing to do (rebuilding), but so is swapping one out.
So I'll ask you all the question again: Rebuild or replace?!?!?

Steve
For the longest time I would have thought my Centurion is the slowest pig around. The darn thing could not even smoke the tires by power breaking it! Adam even doubted that until he tried back two years at the BPG Nationals. He was break revving her and nothing!!! No tire spin at all!!
My carb was a old and junk, though I got good gas mileage, the secondaries didn't open properly.
Anyway fast forward from my rambling. Went and had a standard rebuild nothing fancy no power tuning. I beleive it was aound 300 hundred but don't quote me on it. I had to give them my old one and the turn around time was about a week. They rebuilt the old one which was the original one. I would say being its winter do it now, take off your old one and have it rebuilt. I should say that the shop that did it specializes on carbs and fuel injections set ups. I would add that if your friend can do a professional type of rebuild where the carb parts are actually dipped and it comes back looking brand new, then do it. I would not recommend doing a quickie rebuild, get it done right the first time instead of paying for it twice.
Oh and since I did the carb and a valve job on the heads.... I can now smoke that non posi 2.73 tire!!

I was beating on Rick's car a couple years ago, and couldn't manage to break the tires loose:tonge2: :tonge2: :tonge2: :tonge2:
