Board Speed...

Working on optimizing some things to make the board run faster...it's been a real dog lately.

Ok....it already seems to be running much faster.

I changed the way the board stores all file attachments, avatars, and profile pictures. Instead of being stored in the database, they are actually stored in the file system - relieving the load time on the database itself.

Original database size - 40mb
New database size - 1.5mb

Obviously, I'm still having performance issues on the board....

I don't think it's anything I can control at this point, so I'm going to send a trouble ticket to the host.

Adam, are you speaking the time it takes to load a picture? That seems a bit slow, but not overly dogged down?? Otherwise, I don't see a huge problem?
Now granted, I am not a computer guy, but are you stressing over something you don't need to ??? I'm this guy... :user:

Appreciate all you do by the way. Never thought I'd be involved on something like this, but man I love. To make friends on a chat forum is totally foreign to me, but it happened! Thanks for all you!

Lastly, what's the funding like to keep this thing running. I know a few folks chipped in to help last year, is this something we need to do annually?? Care to share anything on this side of it???? :xyxthumbs:

The site seems to be running better, now. It was really slow for a few days there, though.
