Hello to all you Centurion searchers (specially "loflite" and "Mickemustang" ! )
Randomly I again found a site in the net where a very good Centurion Convertible of 1973 is offered :
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2454530
I´ve seen this site some weeks ago but I thought that the car was sold because the page was last updated in May 2007, so I forgot it until I found it again now. This time I wrote an email to the owner asking if his car is still for sale – and it is !!! First I got the idea to buy it myself because it has good technique and a nice colour also. I thought about it two days but came to recognizing that my car is really a very good one (probably with even better technique) and I love it, so only to get this fine colour it would be too great an expense and perhaps a risk also. On the other hand if it were of the kind of Randy Fortuna´s 73´car I couldn´t guarantee if I could hold myself ... ! (Excuse that thoughts, Adam !)
Anyway – I decided to give you this information now and I informed the seller about it. He now also has the information about our forum and about the Centurion calendar – of course !
May be one of you is interested and lucky to buy that car. It´s stored in Redmond, Washington, while the owner is far away on a business contract; perhaps that could be a problem to make a deal soon – I don´t know. Check it out by yourself; email the owner <madmindz@gmail.com> !
G o o d luck !!!:xyxthumbs:

Hi Rolf,
why do you want to buy another Centurion? Your car is great.

Hi Rolf,
why do you want to buy another Centurion? Your car is great.
I know that, Michel, but since I saw Randy Fortunas ´73 car and nearly the same Convertible on 58 pictures on a special site in the net (http://www.buickcenturion.com/forums/showthread.php?t=419 ) I got the knowledge that there are some much nicer Centurion Convertibles on this wourld (BTW: also several others are nicer than mine - Keith`s orange, Rick`s burgundy, ... ). And only that was the reason why I thought to change the car could be an option when I found that good and nice bamboo cream one.
But I only thought about it 2 days until I came back to recognizing that my car is really a very good one also ... . Everyone has those thoughts sometimes - I´m sure ! Otherwise Keith wouldn´t have changed from his red to the orange one and Randy wouldn´t have changed to his new Convertible and I couldn´t have bought my white one from Adam ... !

Ah ok.... Well if you have the money you can afford it but I will just restore my car as much as possible, buying another car in the states is also expensive and won't give me much fun. I love to work on the car, if it's already finished, then what?
edit, you're idea is not wrong by the way. Maybe i suggest this with this reply :). Sometimes i've got the feeling: let's sell this bad centurion and just buy a descent one in the states, but it just will cost me too much right now...

You are a very young man, Michel, but when being older you will become rich enough (I wish it and hope so for you) to be able to buy the car you likes most !
... and "then what ?" ==> Read what Steve wrote about that question :
"... Get out and enjoy your car. Drive the damn thing. Fall back in love with her (your car that is). Truth be told, I've been so caught up in parts and making my ride "perfect" that I forgot why I bought it in the first place. To drive it. To feel the nostalgia that comes with driving these lovely ladies. To teach my kids and to spend time with the family enjoying something we all love. If nothing teaches us this more than Kimson's (EEE) ordeal (go read his post), then I don't know what will. You've got a car that has 30+ yrs of history in it. Go have fun. Gas her up and let the wind rush through your hair! ..."
That´s what I´m doing most times with my car ! My advice: do it also !

you're right. I just drive it as much as possible, but sometime you meet people who are only restoring cars and once they are perfect they just don't drive it because they're afraid something will happen to the car. Now I can drive my car daily if I want to and besides that I can restore her. But you're right, the hobby never ends beside the driving part I guess when you're car is almost perfect.

No, Mike, I don´t sell my car and I´m not buying another one at this time; I only thought about that possibility !

Keith, I read that somewhere before - guess it was in Randy´s thread about his cars (?) - anyway ... . Sometimes love ends and cars move to new lovers so the joy of driving those cars walks through the world ! And if some day you want another "switching between Centurion lovers" and you are looking on my white one or you only want to let the joy walking again - let me know !! Would like driving an orange one ! ;)

Rolf always remember the grass is always greener on the other side. Meaning what you have compared to someone elses makes you want to have theirs instead. Why? I figure it is just that we get use to our cars and look for something different when most times in reality what we already have is good enough. Rolf, your Centurion is a gem and I can say this as I have seen it in person at a few Buick meets. It is no trailer queen, but its clean, perfect and it is a beauty of a driver. A car you can take out and enjoy on the road and also enjoy it at some car shows too.
I look at mine and at times also look to other ones too wishing I had them instead of mine. Well for what my needs are mine suits me fine. To have mine more pristine show quality would be nice, but it would prevent me from using it as a tow vehicle, and from taking those long 5-10 hour road trips thru back roads. Getting stuck in the pouring rain would give me heart failure. It would prevent me from piling in my son and his friends in the car, on our way to their soccer game and stopping for ice cream afterwards. The kids LOVE it! To me and my needs all of that says it all. So for me to upgrade to a better quality Centurion I would have to lose some of my enjoyments with it. Its a trade off unless I have enless amounts of money, then I would buy 2 or 3 Centurions. But having a GS that I race and does cost $$$ to maintain and being married with kids, a house, and college bills on the way in a few years. Unfortunately I don't have the extra cash and if I buy another Buick I think my wife will have me living in it:D
I hope I'm not babbling here, but don't get me wrong I do LOVE those pristine perfect Centurions, they are the pure definition of beauty, it's just not in the cards for me to have one.....maybe not yet:Brow:
Oh and my enjoyment is the comfort and enjoyment cruising with the top down while towing my GS. This shot is before I had it painted back in 1998 towing back from the GS Nationals in Kentucky, a 16 hour drive from my home most of the trip was with the top down.

By the way Rolf, when I sold the red car to Keith I thought I was bored with it, and wanted a nicer car. I have had nicer cars since, but I have been unable to recapture the feelings I had about that imperfect red car, and I regret selling it.

Thanks for all your kind words and for sharing your experience regarding my thoughts about changing to a supposedly better looking car !
I told Michel "everyone has those thoughts sometimes - I´m sure !" and now got your experiences with those feelings. This shows that I was right in my presumption.
I nearly had passed that process during these 2 days when I thought about buying the bamboo cream car and I ended it with posting this thread. That does not mean that I´m not looking admiringly to other cars now, but the wish to buy another, supposedly better car reduced to a smaller spot. I guess I needed that process to make clear to myself what you all wanted to tell me also and what Rick expressed aptly in his first sentence with "... remember the grass is always greener on the other side." We are all human beings with the same basement structure and so everyone will know this feeling. Only when we look "cool" on the things, freed from emotions, we can see clearer sometimes.
You all now that I´m a very new owner of such an automobile treasure and this is also a reason why I´m very interested in those good looking cars. Adam brought me to this forum after I bought his car and here I got some more knowledge about the big beautiful Centuions and LeSabres. And I looked closer to Wildcats and Rivieras also. I read the stories of the other members about their rides and saw several of these "nearly-new-cars"; then I found that bamboo cream car in very good condition for sale ... ! I´m sure you can follow my thoughts which I had at that moment ! But now all this is history – I will definitely not change to another car now ! And the words to you, Keith, were not really meant as written because I know that you wouldn´t give away your orange car of course!
So I thank you all for sharing your thoughts regarding my "crisis" ! I´m feeling a bit more better now and perhaps I was saved from getting Randy´s feelings of "... I regret selling it ". May be there are some other people out there reading this who are saved from making such a mistake also. So again this is an evidence for the helpfulness of our forum !
:beers:
Conclusion : We should mainly enjoy our cars as Steve told us (post No. 6, here).
