I was looking at the ad for the red 71 coupe and started searching.
I found this black '73 with a 350. Not many options either.
The price seems steep for the lack of equipment.
However a nice set of Buick chrome wheels and an upgraded stereo wouldn't hurt.
Of course the lack of power options means less things to break. LOL!
Has anyone here seen this car or know a history on it?

I have given up (for now) on the flame orange '72 convertible.:bawl:
I am still looking for the right car. I was so sure the orange one was it.
The car was still available and I would love to have it but I can't justify the price they're asking for the amount of cosmetics work it needs.

hmm...another black/black car without AC...

The kicker would've been a black top!

A/C system aftermarket under the dash quite nice and price is reasonable. But yes you are right....... price too high.

I am truly surprised by the amount of '71 to '73 Centurions there are out there without factory air. Especially '73s!
I thought air conditioning was almost a requirement in the early 70s.
I know it was still an option on most cars but I would have thought more full size Buick owners would have opted for it.
My '71 had the best air conditioning unit of any car I've ever owned.
It blew so strong it actually blew a contact lens out of a friend's eye one night. That was fun. Looking for that in the dark...

There's no pics on this one, but it has low miles and supposedly is nicely optioned.

The black convertible looks really nice in the photos. I love those cars in black! Everyone has their personal preferences when it comes to options, but A/C has never been a big deal to me. If I couldn't have the top down, I wouldn't take the car out. I think cars like this one without all the options are unique.

Hi
all centurion lovers..
I have had 4 mustangs 66-67 and also a Mercedes Pagoda 280 Sl 1969. All sold due to lack of time to drive them. Now I have more time since my two boys now are older (8 and 10 years). Now they want´s dad to buy an oldie and i have searched the internet for a vehichle that is reasoneable in price and nice design. Then I came across a Buick Centurion by "mistake" and I must say that I have never ever seen such a beautyful car! It has sofisticated lines combined with the musclecar era and looks so great.
Almost every centurion thats up for sale is a convertible but I think I want a coupe/2dr..
I`m located in Sweden so I will have to take it overseas but thats no problem. The hard part is to find one in decent shape. If anyone have a centurion up for sale, please let me know. For the right example I can adjust myself and probably accept a convertible :-)
I know that my kids would be really glad and it would be great if we could share this nice hobby.
I´m also glad to see that you have this nice website!

You boys were busy this weekend. As most know, I try not to turn on the computer on weekends, so I missed a bunch of this. Time to catch up!

1st - looking at the first link to the 73 Centurion... like looking in the mirror.
You're right Adam, if it had a black top, I'd of had company! As most know, I own a triple black ragtop. NO AIR! Most days, it's not a huge deal, but I use it locally so it hasn't been an issue. But yes, she get's hot! Like Keith said, if I was running it all over the place like he does, I'd probably feel differently Wouldn't mind some more info on the aftermarket air you referred to gr_speedy. Not sure I'd do that, but wouldn't mind know more. I can tell this, I'd love to get my hands on the dash bezels from that car. Very nice. That's my weakest point on my ride. And it's killing me b/c it stares at every DAMN time I get in the car!!
I can't believe they put a white top on that car!

Hey Randy, I know you were complementing my ride per say, but you're right on about these big cars in black if I do say so myself! I've only driven it twice with the top up. The day I got it off the trailer (in the freaking snow and sleet) and one night coming home b/c the kids were cold. (rotten little buggers!!!)

Rolf, that is one hot car you posted a link to! I hope someone snatches that thing up!! She's a beauty... Mikael - you can't go wrong with that ragtop! Great shape and the guy advertises that he sells Internationally! That's got to be a big bonus, as he knows what it takes to ship these beasts across the pond! Welcome to the forum and I agree with Keith... glad you saw the light. Your story sounds similar to mine. I stumbled across my car on eBay, fell in love :p and bought it. Good luck on your search and hope to have on here one day with your new ride!! :xyxthumbs:

Gotta love those prices going up too. Perhaps one day they'll get up to what I paid for mine!! :Dou:

I love this board!
See ya!

for welcoming me although I dont have a centurion yet:laugh:

RobRoy, I did call him and it was interrestesting. But I beleive it´s sold now.
And I have also said to myself this time; The next vehichle I´m going to have the rest of my life so I´m going to be picky.
Here´s my dream centurion:
A brown 2dr formal coupe with tan interior and vinyltop, all original, 455 engine. Then I´m going to install Keystone Classik rims on it.
I can picture myself with my two boys back and playing some good old funkmusic or Suspicoius Mind with Elvis.
Is that a good dream or what?

I think he's hooked boys......... Even has the Elvis going already!!! Gotta love it!! :xyxthumbs: :xyxthumbs: :xyxthumbs:

I'm with you Mikael, whenever I'm in the old gal, I turn up the 60's and 70's and blast it away. My kids love it! Not sure my neighbors do cause it's a ragtop and they hear it all..... but they'll get over it! :Brow:

Quick funny story: Last Wednesday (Halloween to be exact) I took the drop top out of the day. Blew off work, hit the links (Golf) and just had a fun day. On the way home, I pulled up in front of the house. My four kids and wife were out front playing with about 12 other neighbor kids... they all were yelling at me to do a smokey burn out! Well, I did it for them... right in front of the house, I lit those babies up for a good 30 seconds... the place stunk of burning rubber! Several neighbors came out to watch. I thought I was in trouble, as I don't normally do that in the neighborhood... They all clapped and laughed. It was a fun day... :D

Dewbers: I would have liked to see that also:Brow:

About Elvis: Here´s a fun part in my life: My boys (only 8 and 10 years) have recently started to listen to funkmusic, Elvis, BB King, Ray Charles etc etc. They are going trough all my cd:s and they love it. Their buddies doesn´t have a clue when they tell them about all these classact musicians.
My boys also want me to buy a "pimpmobile" and they asks me everyday when it´s coming. Have to find one soon or i´ll be a nutcase in a suitcase

Did somebody say Centurion on Keystone Classics?

That's a before and after picture (the black cherry version is the after). I got a second set of gold centered keystones from a fellow who was moving and needed to clean out his basement. He left a note on my car saying he had 4 rims like mine. He was finishing the note when I returned. I agreed and followed him to where they were stored. They were a bit corroded and the tires were trash so I offered $50 and he jumped at it.

It's nice to have a convertible with enough room for 4 full size tires :xyxthumbs: .

I'm planning to remove the corroded gold from the middles and paint them black cherry to match the car. With spinners, chrome lug nuts and the chrome rim I think they'll be sharp. If I don't like it, I'll still have these as plan B.

Hi John
I think Keystone Classik is one of the nicest rims ever.
I had those on my Mustang 67 convertible and wide tires with white texture. It looked great:)

Your Buick looks real nice with these rims!

Hey John, I like it a bunch bud! Take some more pics for us.... I like the new color too. Though the old one was pretty sharp as well. Share some more!
The wheels sound pretty cool, though many on this forum like staying stock, me included, I do want to see what you have up your sleeve.... someone on here mentioned putting a blower on their ride. I love it! I'll look for more from you on your project.......

Thank you for the leads.
I have been in contact with the seller of the triple green convertible.
It is jade green and it is loaded. Power windows, locks, seats. Air and stereo.
Fiberglass boot and the 455.
In fact we had emailed each other about two weeks ago.
I have his information and I know his asking price.
I had accidentally found the car while looking for something else.

Thanks again,
Rick

Maybe you should start a thread about your car and share some more of your plans with it :xyxthumbs:
