Does anyone have access to a 73 Color Compatibility Chart, similar to the 72 version on this website? I need to know what color stripes would come on a yellow-beige, paint code 81 car.
Thanks,
Randy

Hi Randy, I don't have the '73 color compatibility chart, but code 81 is Bamboo Cream.
The 1971 / 1972 stripes were painted, but I believe that the 1973 stripes were taped rather than painted.
I searched through the 1973 cars in the registry for examples. There were a couple of Bamboo Cream convertibles, but only this car has the Centurion stripe. The car appears to be unrestored, and it appears to have a dark gold or brown stripe.

Randy, what color are your interior and convertible top? I am quite confident that I have seen '73 Bamboo Cream Centurions with black stripes as well.
Bob, since you have documented so many of these cars over the years, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Randy, no picture on this one, but here's a Bamboo Cream convertible with a Sandalwood interior, white roof, and black Centurion stripe.

Thanks Brian,
My car has a sandlewood interior, and a white top. The book I have at home lists code 81 as yellow-beige, but my car is the same color as the one in the pics you sent. Totally original, without stripes, but I really like the stripes and was considering adding them. Since they're just tape, I figured I could remove them for originality.

Randy, I checked through the descriptions of all of the other '73's in the registry. There were several additional Bamboo Cream convertibles that were noted as having the Centurion stripe, but the stripe color was, unfortunately, not documented.
Note to all of us: As we document additional Centurions in the future, let's all try to note the stripe colors as well. Adam, I've not checked the registry upload form for the '73's, but does it easily allow the user to specify the color of the stripe?
I know that this question has come up before regarding a '73 Centurion convertible that was to be restored, so it would be great to understand which stripe colors were paired with each exterior paint scheme. If someone has the '73 color compatibility folder, that should answer the question for us.

I hope this works. I haven't had much luck getting pics attached. I picked this car up last saturday, and drove it home 450 miles. Needs a few things from sitting in storage, but it's a very nice original car. 54,000 miles, one owner. When I picked it up, it still had bias ply tires on the front!

Randy, your '73 is absolutely beautiful! This car was a terrific find.
I like the way this car is optioned with the hard boot cover, the wide rocker molding, and the wire wheel covers. Very striking!

Thanks Brian!
I think it's a really pretty car too. I love finding a car that is basically untouched from new. Since I sold my red convertible to Keith Bleakney a few years ago, I've been searching for a car that would make me feel the same way about it. This is my latest attempt.
