Hey gang - Adam and I have been trading some PM's lately about the possibility of designing a "logo" shirt for Centurion owners. Possibly a nice polo with a logo on the left chest area with or without something on sleeve.
And perhaps a less expensive t-shirt option. We're still in the planning stages of this. Here's where you all come in!

1 - Is there much interest in this among the forums members? Don't want to spin our wheels (excuse the pun) if there aren't many that would actually buy a shirt or two. This is a ZERO profit endeavor folks. I'm not looking to make a penny on this, just to take the lead to get'r done! So, reply to this thread and let us know.

2 - design options. We're looking at several different options. Anything from the "CENTURION" script (like you have your left and right fenders) to the "Roman Helmet Crest" as shown on the header of the forum and most of your hoods... I promise you there are several of you guys that have a lot more talent in this department then I do, so we're looking for you input! Something designed or cut and pasted, anything would be considered. Once I have a few choices, I'll have my designer send us a stitch sampling that I will post here.

Sooooo, who's in and who has some cool ideas?!?!?!

Thanks!

I'm definitely interested in both a polo and t-shirt. I own a small chemical company, and earlier this year got with Lands End to order hats, polo shirts, and dress shirts with our company name and logo. Lands End is outstanding in terms of quality and customer service, and they've been running a promotion that does not require minimum order sizes. :xyxthumbs:

You may have already lined up a supplier of shirts. I would love to see the Roman helmet logo and "Buick Centurion" on the sleeve or breast. Let me know if I can be of any support in this effort.

I'd be in for 2 polo shirts or 1 t-shirt. I like the idea of having the helmet on the chest and Buick on the sleeve.

I think we need to be cautious about the size of the helmet logo on either or we're going to look like ads for Trojans. Not quite the image we're after.

One of the companies I worked for had white canvas shirts with royal blue stitching that looked really sharp, and they wear like iron. They look great with Jeans. I'd vote for that over a Polo, but I will buy one of whatever you create.

Of course Iīm interested in such a polo shirt too.

On the other hand I will get a special T-shirt soon :
Some weeks ago my daughter (she likes painting pictures and caricatures) started to prepare a Centurion-T-shirt for me. It is not ready but she allowed me to post it here ... ;) .

Again my daughter created a design of a polo shirt - by using the software "PAINT" of Microsoft. This could be a good possibility and thatīs why I post it here. - Are there some more visible ideas ? I would like seeing them !

After seeing what your daughter is capable of, perhaps we should let her design this! She's very talented Rolf!!

YES, that's what we're thinking for the polo!

Here's the feedback I have thus far;

Polo - Helmet on left chest with Centurion under the helmet. OR with Centurion on the left sleeve... Or possibly with the Year of your car on the left sleeve. (Might prove costly to have too many "Custom" shirts)

T-shirt - Helmet on the back with Centurion on the left chest.

Need to be careful not to look like the "Trojan" advertisement, as John (73 Centurion) pointed out! Speaking of John - you mentioned a "canvas" shirt?? Can you share an example?

After understanding what you mean with Polo from the picture in post #10, I’m also in for that!
Polo here in Sweden means the kind of sweater like on the picture below

Roman helmet logo on the left chest, with just "Centurion" on the sleeve.

Or just the helmet on the chest.

Or "Centurion" on the chest.

I'd hate to have these be too gaudy. I want to be able to wear the polo shirt at a Golf tournament and not stand out like a sore thumb.

Iīm with you, Adam; it has to be elegant and not like a poster !!! Up to now the best for me would be to have only a small logo and also small the word "Centurion" or "Buick Centurion" - the words perhaps on the sleeve - but please nothing on the back side !
I hope most of us could follow this general line (??) !

And what colour should the shirt have ? White would be good but fragile; a colour could be better (?). On the other hand the colour should be no problem; I guess it could be choosed individual.

How do you plan to come to a decision, Steve ? I guess after some more discussion and seeing some new ideas we should start a voting - perhaps by using such easy prepared pictures as my daughter created one (?).

Black in combination with gold looks very good , Per, on the other hand black could become too hot in sunshine - specially when driving a convertible ! And I think we should not change the original colour of the helmet too much; we could choose grey or white instead of silver or black on light colour ground (my opinion: best would be silver) for the helmet.
Also let the text be reduced to the car itself.

My wish is :
Keep it simple and elegant to make it a strong sign for all occations !

Hey guys, as soon as my gal has some samples stitched, I'll post. Trust me, it won't be gaudy! That's not my style... It will be something you can wear to golf tourney, to a car show, or even to work on dress down days. I promise! I've taken all the idea's and shared them with my designer. I'll post so you can see it BEFORE we move forward. I am leaning toward's the Helmet on the left chest and Centurion on the sleeve. But that's not final yet as I am trying to give them some creative leeway... More to come on the polo's...

On the t-shirts. If we do them. This is wear I suggested we might put the helmet on the back, however, as John (73 Centurion) pointed out, we have to be careful we're not walking advertisements for that "Other Roman Helmet"!!! :Brow:  :Brow:  :Brow:

We'll discuss colors once we get the logo down. Reason being is that I want the folks we're using to make recommendation on what color will be best of the logo. ( I like the silver thought too, simply b/c that's what all our cars have on them!) BUT, we need to make sure the contrast will show up well so that we get a classy end result...

Sound Good thus far?

Lastly, I have about 10 of you that have said yes to shirts. Is that correct?
Adam is there a way to have this site keep a running tabulation with names, sizes and # of shirts? Not looking for it run threads as we do now b/c that will become cumbersome to manage??? If not, I'll do it on my hand, the old fashioned way, which is fine! I'll ask for PM's once we nail this down.

Thanks Gents!

This is a great idea!

I'll buy some of each. I think just a large centurion helmet in the ring emblem, without any lettering would be cool on the T-shirt. Front or back. Regardless, I'll buy at least 3 or 4 of each.

You need to start a new thread with the title something like "Centurion Shirt Sizes - sigh up here" ....or something to that effect.

You will be able to edit your first post in the thread to reflect current numbers and sizes available.

About got the logo digitized and ready to show you all... As soon as I do, I'll post. Thinking the Helmet logo (with circle) on the left chest. Either have the word Centurion under the logo or possibly on the left arm. I'll share what I get with you guys so we can decide together.

What color shirt should we go with? Dark (black, navy etc) or Light (white, yellow, etc) I don't think we can customize the color as the cost will go up. Meaning, we all must decide on one color. So, let the voting begin...

NAVY Shirt - White or silver logo and lettering
BLACK Shirt - as described above
Another color?

WHITE Shirt - Black or dark grey logo and lettering
YELLOW (butter or darker yellow) Shirt - as described above
Another color?

Suggestions welcome!

I just thought of this... if we can get enough interest, perhaps we can do one dark and one light one??

I also vote for helmet on left breast, and Centurion script on the sleeve.

My vote: NAVY Shirt + (White or) Silver logo and lettering !
This classic dark blue that is traditional and elegant. Navy's appeal is timeless.

... ... Another color? ... ...

Perhaps normal BLUE + Silver or black logo and lettering !
Navy would be elegant in combination with all colors but might be too dark for warm and sunny weather (?).

Ok Rolf, I hear you and I actually had second thoughts about black anyway which requires a tan to look good.

Steve, could you please post a pic which shows the color of your alternative navy blue ?
So everyone could get a better understanding that there is no great differance to black, but navy is more friendly, makes not such a hard contrast, keeps combinations more interesting, is more elegant than black.
For me that differance is important; I donīt want to be remembered to the outfit on funerals (excuse that comparison - I only try to express that I really donīt like a black shirt).

Wow - I am loving how engaged you all are on this project! Roudy, I loved your comment! :beers:

I got some good news today, wrapped around some bad news!!!

First, the good news... And Keith, you owe me a round!! (same with all you other "Black Shirt" lovers!!) My supplier will allow me to buy NAVY and BLACK shirts for the same cost!!! So you all will get a choice or be able to buy one (or two, or a half dozen) of each!! Do I rock or what!!

Bad news... The shirt I wanted to buy has been DISCONTINUED!!! Very ticked off over that! So now, I gotta go find another shirt that offers NAVY AND BLACK, b/c if you think we're having another color conversation, you're nuts!!!! :Brow:

One last question guys before I nail this down and start taking size orders...
Should we be looking for a higher end shirt or a medium end shirt? Quality wise, it seems you need to spend a few bucks more to get something that will wear nice and last. Whatever we get, I plan on getting a "performance" shirt that wicks away perspiration, etc. (Desert dry, Sensor cool, Dry fiber, Dri-Fit are some terms used) Keep in mind the embroidery will run approx $8-$10 per shirt. (we're getting two embroideries per shirt, so that add's up. Normally, the charge is $9 per embroidery, so we're getting it for about 1/2 price!)

I don't want to price anyone out of this.
