Recently, I've been in contact through the BCA forum (buickclub.org) with Dan Cook, who acquired a 1972 Electra 225 Limited coupe. Dan lives in Northern California, and had plans to visit relatives in the Seattle area. He intended to drive the '72, so asked whether we could meet together when he was in my area.

It's a rare opportunity to get a couple of these large, early 1970's Buicks together, so I made a point of meeting Dan with my '71 Centurion. Dan shot a few photos in a nearby park, and I figured you might enjoy seeing the '71 Centurion alongside the '72 Electra 225.

Very nice pictures ! For me it´s a good comparison of these both cars, one can see the more sportily styling of the Centurion. The Centurion design seems to me to be more harmoniously, more weighed out also. -
I love those Centurions and yours is one of these headturners, Brian, - a nice car ! :xyxthumbs:

Thanks for posting this Brian
They look powerful side by side and the Electra sure has its charm even if I like Rolf are more into the Centurion style, guess I’ve been Centurionized :D

Two of my friends have had Electra’s, one 68 and 74. It’s probably the most well-known Buick model in Sweden among people that are into American classics.

It's amazing how different they look considering the front 2/3 rds are nearly identical. The wheel skirts and squared off rear make the Electra look so much more massive.

Most of the B-Bodies have a very heavy looking rear. Even the front drive Cadillacs. The Centurion is an exception, it looks smaller and lighter than it's cousins because they kept the rear end in proportion. Compare it to the Olds, or Pontiac and you'll see how their back ends looks like they are dragging.

The Riviera has a different platform in the rear than other B-Bodies to help reduce the rear end mass. The Centurions have the full size platform but don't look that much bigger in back.

That's why I like the proportions of the Centurion so much. It carries it's size lightly compared to the rest.
