are these interchangeable on 71,72,73 as far as fit goes? Im making a custom, I want one with a shield or buick emblem in the middle and a vent on both sides?
please advise and if you have one, im interested. thanks, also a sport wheel, any year that fits. This is not my car in the pic.
I believe those are the same for the 71-73 years. There are differences as to what the symbol in the middle looks like, and what kind of color/trim they have. I don't see any reason for them to not interchange.

great, thanks! know where i could find one with the buick emblem in the middle and vent on both sides?
I think I had one of those pieces with the Buick tri-shield emblem in the middle and sold it, I can't quite remember. The tri-shield emblem looked really nice.

I beleive the LeSabre had the Buick Emblem and the Centurions had "Centurion". IIRC There are 2 posts on the back that have nuts which hold this in place. If you remove the glove box you should be able to get at them.
I believe all full size Buicks (excluding 71 and 72 Riviera) used the same panel.

The style in the picture was used on 71 and 72 only. Electra symbol, tri shield(lesabre), and centurion helmet were used, except for the Riviera which was styled differently on the passenger side of the dash. 73 had no emblems in the middle, only nameplates for all full size models.

thanks, even though the emblems are different, will the piece itself interchange all threee years?

I want to say yes, but I'm not for sure on it. I'm pretty sure it's the same dashpad for all 3 years.

Same dashpad yes...but the design of the molding changes in 73. They should all be interchangeable, as far as fit is concerned, though.

Cars with A/C have 2 vents, non A/C cars just have the one on the far right. The thingy that directs the air is integrated into this panel so it would be very hard to convert a non A/C version.
I had to find one that had both vents when I added A/C, but I was lucky. I had a Centurion Parts car to pull pieces from.

Instead of making a new thread i guess ill just post my question here...
My bezels are all discolored and whatnot... now... i did find a 71 lesabre hard top that i could probably steal them out of, but if not, is it possible to redo the woodgrain?

I've never heard of a way to fix the woodgrain. It appears to be printed on a thin sheet of plastic that is glued to the black background. I think the printing was done first then the plastic was molded to the correct shape and glued in place.
If anyone knows of a way to touch up these panels I bet they'd get a lot of business from the Convertible owners. Whatever ink they used breaks down in sunlight. :Dou:
