Went to a weekly nearby car show this evening that I never been on before and boy, this was huge…. I would guess about 400 American classic cars and probably 150-200 European classic cars. There must have been at least 200 motorcycles as well. Heck some guys even came in small airplanes
Anyhow, thought I’d share a few photos from this sunny evening in Sweden.

Sweet stuff, where at?
Outside a little village called Löddeköpinge, it’s between Helsinborg and Lund.
This weekly meeting was started by a guy who owns a burger/hot dog joint. He thought business was slow and encouraged all people with interest in motor-bikes and cars to gather at his place. He’s probably a millionaire by now from selling burgers and hotdogs to all the people visiting these Tuesday meetings. He picked the name “Time of the Vikings” since the field where the meeting takes place is on top of an old Viking village which will most likely be an excavation place in the future.
Yesterday was an all time high evening since the weather was really good. It’s been a rainy summer here and a lot of people are suffering from abstinence not being able to drive their cars and bikes as they are use to.
Some more picts..

Pict 1 and 2
Saw this on an early Camaro. According to my friend “Cowl induction” is the type of air cleaner housing seen on pict 1? I remember seeing something similar on Adams convertible http://www.buickcenturion.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2281#post2281 post #6
I guess this is not an original option on our cars, or?
Pict 3
This Buick convertible 58 was mint…. ..a real breath taker. I hope I bump in to this one again so I can take some more picts and maybe talk to the owner. You can also see it in the first post of this thread as pict 3 .

I think cowl induction is when you have a raised opening at the back of the hood towards the windshield. There is a turbulent air current that spins around the windshield that creates air pressure in that area. Therefore the hood opening lets air in to the filter box under pressure. If you look at semi-fast street cars, they often have that option instead of a hood scoop. Our cars never had such a thing, and very few cars have that as an original design. That is why I build the dual snorkel system on my car, kind of a similar deal.

Make sense since this Camaro had that kind of hood.
I’m familiar with this system, I just didn’t know it was called cowl induction. Guess I have learned something new. I suppose the one on Adams former convertible (now Rolf’s car) was just an after market air filter with a special lid? without any opening on the hood of course.
Thought I’d throw in some picts on the airborne folks as well.
Pict #2
I barely managed to shot this pict when he flew over me.
Pict #1
This one was definitely too fast when he made a roll over the exhibition field, however I recognised this long legged bird from Wheels&Wings and stole a pict of it from their home page.
Wheels&Wings is a show/meeting up north west once a year with 80% American classic cars and the rest old aircrafts.
For those of you that are into old airplanes I recommend to visit http://www.wheelsnwings.se/. Check out the photos from 2001 where you can find a copy of the Charles Lindberg plane and a P51 Mustang (just love that plane) among others.

The cowl is the part where the firewall is located, that is why it is called "cowl tag" for that little information plaque that sits on the passenger side. Or so I've understood it.
Adam (now Rolf) just had a special K&N air filter lid and no filter box lid on.

Cool cars and looks like a very good time Robroy... I wish we'd do something like that around here... maybe I'll just have to start something!
Enjoy that show as often as you can !

Read in the news that there were 330 American classic cars, 230 European classic cars and 970 motorcycles visiting last Tuesday. It also said that this is the biggest weekly meeting in the country of its kind, can’t say I’m surprised. Last year they had 45000 visitors totally (every Tuesday from mid May to mid September).
If the weather is nice, I plan to go there again next Tuesday when there’s gone be an air show with a P51 Mustang.
Have a few picts left to share from last time.

This nice corvette had come over from Denmark

The American classic car hobby has some strong roots here since 30-35 years back and there are plenty of meeting and exhibitions during the whole summer.
Power Big meet in Västerås is one of them http://www.bigmeet.com/index.html which they say is the biggest in Europe.
People come from the US, Australia and all over Europe to visit that one.

It’s 8-9 hour drive and I’m a confy 45 year old nowdays
However, I’m thinking on this one which is only two hours away. Been there 2000 and 2003, great show. Got some old airplanes as well :beers:

I finally got my self going to one of these Tuesday meetings and like the last time (summer of 2007) I picked a Tuesday with real nice weather which bring as many as possible to come.
The result, well the Vikings are still in business, no doubt about that…:D
Hope you enjoy the picts!

I fell in love with this beautiful black Grand Prix…a real nice Pontiac
Never really could figured out what brand that old ambulance was, but a wild guess would be Pontiac…:confused2:

I ran across an old acquaintance too, I use to own this 66 Plymouth 21 years ago but it was baby blue then and with those kind of hub caps that looked like spoke wheels….
My neighbour hated that noisy 318 sb when I took off to work in the morning (he was working the graveyard shift)  :D

Per, thanks for more wonderful photos.
The ambulance is a Henney-bodied Packard from the 1951 - 1954 time period.

Four Buick 58's were present this evening, not bad for a weekly meeting eh, one Roadmaster (sold new in Minneapolis Dale!) and three Buick Super.
I think you need to move to Sweden Adam…. ;)
Since I know you are into these (too) I took some extra picts….

Think this yellow and black one was sold new here; the speedo looks original km/h.
Note the billiard ball as knob on the gear stick, mild custom..
The black convertible was my favourite :beers:

Just before leaving I spotted this black 73 Centurion convertible, unfortunately I never got a chance to talk to the owner and I would also have liked to take some more picts. Hopefully I bump in to it again
People are starting to head home. Next Tuesday 06:00 pm it starts all over. In average 5000 persons are here each week. I heard some American voices this time, probably tourists.

It seems odd to me that the Chevy with the cowl induction intake would have a snorkel on the air cleaner housing.
I have no idea if they did or not, it just strikes me as odd.:coffee:

Hey, Per, Sweden seems to be a nice place to spend the summer - beautiful cars, sunny weather and a little ocean just in front of your door !
BTW: The black 1958 convertible would be my favourite also, but guess if I would have such a car I would be too anxious for driving it ... !
Thanks, Per, for this Tuesday-meeting-overview.:beers:

Swanberg and Scheefe was at the corner of University and East Hennepin, just off downtown. I believe it was established in 1905, and was one of the oldest, if not the oldest, Buick dealers in existence for a long time. My Dad bought some cars there; we used to hang out in their warehouse while the car was in for service. Dealer's gone, but the warehouse building is on the historic register and remains, rehabbed into offices and a health club!

When I worked in downtown Mpls. during the 90's, I would drive by there everyday to and from work.
When I would be sitting at the stop light at University Ave N.E. & 1st Ave., I would imagine all the great Buicks that had passed through the entrance to the service dept. over all those years. Like ghosts they would appear in my mind.
I felt sad when it was closed when the area was as I like to call "yuppified".
I still wonder what became of the great old neon Buick sign that used to hang off the building. It looked like it was at least from the 40's.
I also remember as a kid in the 60's, that just North of there by the railroad tracks was a collection of derelict Buicks rusting away in the weeds.

Minneapolis (and the upper midwest US in general) has a heavily Scandinavian population, especially Norwegian.

As you say Steve, it’s no surprise with the Scandinavians up in this area.
It is very interesting though when you say that Norwegians is the most represented group of the Scandinavians countries up in Minneapolis. If you look at today’s population Norway is up at 4.7 million while Sweden is up at 9.1 million but it could be that they had a higher emigration rate than us.
As a side note I’d like to add that Norway is the most beautiful country up here, but it is very expensive to live in.
I think many of you Americans would be really surprised of how similar northern Europe is to the US, maybe even more similar than England for ex.

Hi Michel!
Long time no see, I thought you had sold your C since you haven’t been online here for a while, but I’m glad to see I was wrong.
When you were in Kristianstad and Trelleborg you wasn’t that far from me, I live in the southwest part near Malmö.
What and where to visit is very much depending on your interests and how far you are prepared to travel.
The south (Skåne) where I live is very similar to northern Germany in its landscape and also pretty crowded on the west side.
I recommend to see; Småland, Värmland, Dalarna or one of the islands Öland and Gotland.
Stockholm is also a very special city with all the water and the archipelagos.
