I was hoping someone could give some info on my power antennae. The motor works, but the mast doesn't move. Can this be fixed or is the mast garbage? Also, what is the best way to get to the antenna to remove it? There doesn't seem to be a lot of room to work with in that area. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I had a power antenna on a Chevy once that didn’t push up all the way all though you could hear that the motor worked trying to get it up.
I then lubricated it by spraying thin oil between the antenna sections. THAT turned out to be a real bad idea since it then stopped pushing up at all :( . So what ever you do, don’t try that.
Wish I could be of more help, but my experience in the subject stops there.

The antenna doesn't go up at all when the motor runs although will lift up and down manually so I was thinking the plastic that runs through the mast wasn't hooked up to the motor. Thanks

Mark, you may want to consult a 73 Service Manual . Power Antenna was not an option on 72's but was available in 73. Perhaps yours was an add on after a prospectve buyer of a leftover saw the pwr ant on a 73 & wanted one added to complete the sale. Is your windshield original and if so can you see the antenna wire in it?
Hello Keith, I think you may be thinking I'm talking about the 72 pictured, but I'm working on the 74 Lesabre. I do have the 73 Service Manual, I just have to try and dig it out of my basement. I'm pretty sure it's the same antenna for both years. I'm also pretty sure that if you bought the power antenna option you still had the antenna in the windshield. My 73 Electra and the Lesabre both are power antenna and both have the one in the windshield, unless both windshields were replaced at one time. By the way, congratulations on winning the car show. Enjoyed the photos, what a beautiful car. :xyxthumbs:
