Hi gang,

I want to get started on this now, so we all have some time to get proper photos taken of our cars.

Specifications on the photos:

Images MUST be at least 200 dpi, no smaller.

Dimensions should be at least 9 x 6.5" or similar. I can manipulate most images to make them work.

Please send all submissions to me at centurion@buickcenturion.com.

I will also need your name, so I can display it on the calendar pages themselves. Any preference on month will be taken into consideration, but not guaranteed. July is taken already:cool:

Also, ideas on a cover are more than welcome.

Here is a sample:

Are you using any bleed on the images or do you want a finished cropped version? Exact dimensions would be great to know, would that be 9*6.5 @ 200/300 DPI?

Smartin

Yes, 9x6.5 is optimal, that's what I am making them. I will then add 1/2" to the bottom so I can type in your name & info.

If you have a raw image and don't know how to edit it to fit my format, then send it to me, and I can make it work. But it HAS to be high resolution, or I cannot use it.

Hey Adam - can you update us on who's in thus far and what month's have been taken??? Also, if we've sent you pics, then take something more favorable, when is your drop dead date to allow changes? :confused4:

You sent me an email about taking the pics that I really got a lot from, so I'll share it here if you don't mind!?! I plan on taking the land sled out for a "photo shoot" at the beach in a week or so...... Anyway, I cut and pasted your exact words Adam: " When you take some more shots, think a little outside the box. Take a few pictures with the camera tilted a bit (see my avatar on the forums). Lay on the ground and shoot a few looking up at the grille, or up at a 3/4 shot of the car. Sometimes shots like this become your favorite pictures. Fill the frame of the viewfiner with the car. Eliminate all the "space" you can when you are taking a picture. This helps with cropping later if needed... "

Just some thoughts for those still waiting to take them and send them.

Thanks guys!

Also consider how much clothes the chick in the picture should have on.

Hey Kimson - I read just about every thread on this site. AND, just about every time I read one that you've written..... it contains a comment about good looking chicks in one way on another..... Not that I mind...... b/c I don't. I just wanted to bring this to your attention in case you didn't know......

See ya!

I've got a really twisted sarcastic kind of humor that I'm really trying to hold back when I'm on these web forums. Everything is so politically correct these days, and maybe that keeps people like me in line and the discussions are kept on topic. :user:

Keith, I'm on board with you here. Kimson was just making a joke that I joked back with him on... No one wants the gals on the cars for this calendar! Just the rides themselves...

Also, ideas on a cover are more than welcome.
:

Here are two ideas just to get the cover discussion started.

A really classy illustration from a Buick brochure like the one on the 70-Fury below, if we could find such and if it would look good when printed

To have all the pictures included in the calendar as miniatures on the cover, don’t know how that would look, but it could work

Hey Adam - on the email I sent to you with the pics, I had asked for the June slot. Either Rick already had it, or you missed it. It's really not a biggie... If it's still available I'll take November. (Wedding month)
Thanks!
Steve

Hey Adam - I don't want to bounce Keith...... if he wanted June, it's fine.
November works for me. Trust me, it isn't that big of a deal... Plus, Keith's a good guy! If it was Kimson, I may have issues....... ha, ha, ha!! :beers:
Thanks men!

Beautiful day in Delaware today. 82 degree's, low humidity! Drove the sled to work and it's killing me not to be behind the wheel right now!
See ya,

Adam,

Just picked up my 1973 Buick Centurion 455 convt. this last Friday the 13th and I dove it from Buffalo to Chicago without even a peep. If March is available, I wish to be on my b-day month.

If March is taken or there are already too many cars, I will wait for next year.

If March is open, let me know. Need to take high res photo.

Thanks:cool:

Changes made to reflect current interests...

Steve - I bumped Rick up to May. I think he's ok with that. I just picked an arbitrary month for him, and June was the one. But you had it before I put him there.

I'll take an old Chrysler, or any make for that matter. I see them all as old cool cars, and I really like the design of them. I bumped into the Centurion by chance, I could just as well have been driving a Ford.

how about the brass mold for a cover picture?

Smartin

If I could get a good picture of it, I'd consider it. Although that may require a skilled photographer to take a photo with NO flash.

If I could get a good picture of it, I'd consider it. Although that may require a skilled photographer to take a photo with NO flash.

Many newer digital cameras have an “Optical Image Stabilizer (IS) System” that makes it possible even for an amateur to take real sharp pictures without using the flash. I just bought a Canon PowerShot A570 IS which takes great pictures if the light is fair without the flash on, and you don’t get more amateur than me when it comes to photographing:rooleyes2: .

Maybe you could lend or buy such a IS camera?

I want to see what we can get for a group shot at the BPG nats this week, and possibly use that for the cover, but I do like Kimson's entry.

Hey Adam,

It happens that I just bought a really nice low mileage 73 convertible last week. Totally original with only 54,000 miles. Yellow beige with the sandlewood interior, hard boot, and wire wheel covers. I could take some nice shots this weekend, and forward if you would be interested in using it.

Michel, send what you have to me:

I got a letter from the nephew to the original owner of my Centurion the other day. He was real keen :beers: on purchasing a copy of the Centurion Calendar for 2008.

Adam,
would it be ok for him to send you cash in an envelope for the cost of the calendar and shipping and then you mail it to him? He’s located in Pasco WA.

I guess we’re still one car short for February before the calendar can be ready .....

I think I have all the cars necessary...I will work on this Sunday.

Tell him to wait until I get the calendar available on the store website...he can purchase it there.

Completely agree Per... my kids all have the calendar in their rooms and when they flipped it to March, they all said... "hey Dad, isn't that Kimson's car? The one that burned up? Did he (Kimson) ever find out who did that to his dream car?" When I say no, they said "you know what Dad, I'd love to help him take out his anger on them if he does ever find out!!" :spank: :Blasting:

What a proud papa I am !! Teaching 'em young!!
