Is this the strip that goes above the glove box? It looks too short. Maybe it's the photo, but it also looks darker than the strip above my glove box.

Hey Boscoe,
That isn't the right strip for your car. Your's is thinner and longer. They are also (usually) a lighter color than the rest of the woodgrain on your dash as well.

Thanks, Scott. You just saved me some money. I was going to bid on it thinking it was the strip above the glove box. Mine has some bubbling under it.
How's that beautiful car of yours? Have you looked any further into an overdrive transmission?
I've been so busy here at the office that I haven't had time to do anything to mine. Time's running out on my temp tags, though, so I've got an appointment on Tuesday to have the car run through the state safety inspection. Depending on what they find and what they can fix, I may have them do whatever is needed to get the car to pass the inspection. It's a shop with a very good reputation and it's well rated by the local consumer watchdogs. Plus, the owner speaks English and sounds intelligent. That's a rare combination in auto repair around here.
I've entered my car in a local show on August 11 and sent in an application for the local chapter of the BCA. I hope I'll meet some people who can steer me in the direction of a shop or mechanic who can help me take proper care of the car and do the things I want done like installing a tilt wheel column or adding power windows and locks.
Well, thanks again for your quick response. You kept me from buying something I don't need. Take care.

This is the correct piece that goes above the glove box for AC cars...
Brian, does your car have AC?

Yes, it does. Ok, I put a bid on it. What's the most I should pay for it? Mine has some bubbling, but it's not torn. The one on eBay looks darker than the strip on my dash, but maybe that's just the picture. Mine looks to be the same shade as the one on your car, Adam.

I've seen various shades of them. The one on my convertible was very light, I assumed that was due to sun exposure.
The picture I have posted above makes the color look washed out.
Here is another one on my 71 LeSabre.

Wow, sorry guys. I guess I missed the call on that piece. It sure doesn't even look close. Hope I didn't cause you to lose it, Brian.http://www.buickcenturion.com/forums/images/smilies/kopfpatsch.gif

No problem, Scott. Besides, my max bid was nowhere near what it sold for.
