There is a Burgundy 73 455 coupe currently running on ebay (200047793938)The car has apparently been in one family since new and is uniquely enough optioned that I would imagine it was ordered by the original owner.

The car is indeed uniquely optioned. There are few options, but the original owner did select the high performance version of the 455!

The VIN lists the engine as a T - standard 455...but I also see the window sitcker lists a "high perf 455" Option code A9 - which in 1973 is the standard 455.

Adam, thanks for the good catch and correction. How, then, did Buick refer to the true modified high performance 455 in '73?

Sales Code A3 - listed as High Performance 455
I don't know why the A9 option says high performance on the window sticker. Here is the 73 order form:

Adam are you sure with that, because I know my 1973 Centurion does in fact have the standard 455 option (standard non-stage 1 valves) and on my build sheet it has a code L74 Eng 455 4BBL see link: http://www.buickcenturion.com/1973/rick_m/buildsheet.jpg
Oh and my Centurion also has that darn lame 2.73 economy rear ratio code GU2.
One last thing, that Centurion on e-bay has an incorrect right tail light lens. The car is a nice one. I do like the color.

I believe that part of the confusion here may be that the sales order codes differed from the build sheet codes.
