I saw an ad for this brown four door about two months ago, and I printed it out and forgot about it. I recently found my printout and the car was still for sale, so I thought I'd go and take a look at it.

The car has its share of:

dents,
hood is totally oxidized down to rust,
rear window has home depot silicone around it,
chrome is no good,
vinyl top has bubbles under it,
it's missing a few trim pieces on the sides,
rear bumper is dented

I couldn't read the vin, the plaque was covered with dust/dirt/who knows, I was hoping for a "w" code, but it had a single exhaust.

The good parts were, it has the chrome trim on the trunk that makes some people's baguettes twitch (slightly dented though). The interior looked very good, but it was some weird cloth version. He also said it drives real good, I saw it without having the owner there, so I didn't hear it run, but if we can take his word for it.

He went from $1200 to $750 over the phone, but I just don't think it's worth it, unless you are looking for a 4-door interior and a spare engine. I was considering getting it if it would have been in better shape, but the body work and paint would be too much to try and save it. I will call him in a few weeks to see if someone picked it up, cause this might be going to the junk yard soon, tags expired in Dec. 06.

For the right money it seems like the perfect spare parts donator for your convertible …in case you need one that is…

It's too much of a headache to part a car where I live, there is no space to store it, and it would be more of a hassle then a benefit. Sure I wouldn't mind having an engine on a stand to work on, but it would be sitting in the open with the neighbours having to look at it every time they take out their trash. Just having the car running is no good either, parking here is pretty tight, and we already have three cars with one garage spot. It would have to be a car that would be worth spending some time on and worth getting back into shape, I think a 4-door with all these body problems is a bad object to begin with, and the parts car option I can't do. But I wouldn't mind getting that TRUNK LIP MOLDING off of it just to stir the pot a bit MMOOOAAAHHHHAHA...

I would also like to add that I am now a "senior member" according to the text next to the avatar, so be nice  ...

That means you have to add stainless trim to your trunk.. That's the last piece of the "senior member" badge.

I kind of have this idea about losing trim, but maybe if i stumbled on a set at the yard.. hmmm....

Being the weird 4 door guy, I wish it had been possible to totally document the Nutmeg 4 door hardtop as the information on every car is valued. It is definitely a later build as it has the wide rocker moldings and dark brown vinyl roof. It may have also been fairly well optioned since it sports front lamp monitors as well as the custom rear body moldings.

Here is one of the better parts of the car, but it's some cloth/vinyl version :confused2: ..

Well, that is definitely not the stock pattern cloth and the little bubbles.....yeah, looks like a decent quantity of rust under that vinyl roof. I also noted the paint stripe in this second photo.

It is unfortunate that the original interior has been changed out.

It seems to me that the useful items on this car are nearly worth the price of admission. We know that the trunk stainless is nearly impossible to find, and many of our members here are seeking these pieces.

The lamp monitors are also not readily available, and someone could certainly utilize the wide rocker stainless if wishing to add this option to a '72 or '73 LeSabre or Centurion 4-door.

You're right on target, Brian. And, with the unique options it has that are readily apparent, I have to wonder what goodies may be inside? Of course, I hope that somehow it still may be fully documented and, based on what the parted out white 4 door hardtop did, I can see that it could be a very good investment if someone had the desire to part this one out if it is not to be saved.

Too bad none of us has a big warehouse so we could pool or money and buy up cars going cheap to use for parts and to document them. Maybe have a "club meeting" every summer when we'd all come in and strip all the useable parts then scrap the junk. Incorporate and sell shares. Shareholders would get first shot at the parts. We could make a small fortune out of a large one!
