From some of my poking around, this looked like a 1st class forum with some well informed participants. So where better to go with my burning question...........I am looking for any information that will help me pin down the usage of some Guidematic parts that I have. I have tinkered with the Autronic Eye and Guidematic systems for a while. And when some of these showed up on E-bay, naturally I went after them. Now I need to figure out what car and model they go to.
This is a dash mounted unit that is either stainless steel or brushed aluminum. When looking at the front of it, it truely looks like an eye with the lens (yellow) being a perfect 1" circle. It is about 3 inches wide at its widest point, thus significantly wider than the Autronic Eye of the late 50's that had the knob on it. It is clearly labled Guidematic (cast into black plastic that surrounds the lens) so I know it is later than 1960 since the units before this time were called Autronic Eye.
Does anyone know if the Buicks mounted the later units on the dash or were they located behind the grill like the Cadillacs of this era? Might these parts be be used on a Lincoln or Chrysler?
Any information would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
RJ
