Hey gang, I am looking to install a remote trunk release for my 72 ragtop. Problem is, I don't have one!! :D If you have one and want to part with it, let me know. If you stumble across one and don't buy it for yourself, PLEASE keep me in mind! Just thinking about other "stuff" I need..... or should I say want! :o
Here's my Christmas wish list....
1- trunk release
2- NOS floor mats. (I know, someone is making them and I need to be patient) HA!
3- passenger side mirror (exterior)
4- Hard Parade Boot (painted in a high gloss black please!!) ;)
Let me know!
See ya,
Steve

I hear ya with the Christmas list.
1. $$
2. $$$
3. and more $$$$$
Just keep a watchful eye out on evil bay. Like I said, " You never know, some stuff pops up and everyone seems to miss it."
Options I added onto mine, aquired from a parts convertible and evil bay
Soft vinal boot
Parade boot
am/fm stereo 8-track (in dash unit)
trunk release
power door locks (complete set)
Better looking dash with optional trip odometer & speed alert.
Cornering headlights (just need now a driver side fender have everything else)
new clock with electronic conversion
Headlight/signal fender indicators
Small consolette
Passenger side litter/map box (mounts on kick panel)
Passenger side mirror, exterior
3.08 gears & posi unit (haven't installed it yet)
Now I'm too busy cursing Adam out since he started posting all those fantastic restoration shots he has been doing, I have been slaving on mine to clean it up. Of course not as good as Adam's but at least I can open the trunk, hood and the car will look very presentable. Oh, and Adam, I did a carb change, and switched to an HEI. Remember trying to smoke the tires on mine at Salem? Well not a problem now. Fries them real good now.:xyxthumbs: I'm not quick enough to run with you, but at least for a land barge it can now flex its muscles a little bit on the street
Steve, in time those items should pop up. With me it took a while, in the mean time just keep that slush fund $$$ tucked away. I will keep an eye out and if I see anything that you need I'll give you a shout out. Heck man I love spending money....especially when it's not mine:laugh:
I've got one of those in the garage; I'll take a look at it on Sunday to see if it working as it should, and I'll take a picture of it.

F Y I -- The Buick factory accessory part numbers for the power trunk release kit are: 981735 for 1971 and 981802 for 1972 and 1973. These are the numbers that include Centurions.

Kimson - what part did you think you might have in the garage? The Trunk release?
Yep, the trunk release.. I've been working to get my truck out of the car jail, since the previous owner had five unpaid tickets on it, and now they have impounded it. So I haven't been in the garage to dig out the trunk release, maybe tonight I'll have a picture of it for you.

Hey Kimson - ever check about that remote trunk release? Let me know!
Thanks,
Steve
So I finally made it to the box where this was hiding.. It works fine, but has some smaller cosmetic improvement needs. I could part with it for 20$ shipped to your door.

Thanks for the picture... first off, sounds like a good deal. I'm interested. Tell me more on the cosmetic needs you mention... And do you have instructions on how to install the bugger? I assume there is a switch that goes in the glove box and then wired to the release, which is installed in the trunk near the lock??? Looking for some guidance!
Thanks,
Steve
Well, the cosmetic needs aren't much, you can see in the picture that the finish is a bit weathered. Maybe paint it black, or just clean/polish it and it will look better. The trunk release connects with the two bolts that are already on the lock under the trunk lid. Just unscrew them, put the trunk release on there and then put the bolts back on. It's real simple. The wire is supposed to hook up to a button in the glove compartment area, or you could put a button anywhere you want to. Just splice in a + connection to the trunk releasde wire from the clock wire or similar and it will go "pop" when you press the button, it's grounded through the bolts in the lid.

Hi Steve:
I had 5 parade boots and I am down to just 2. So I was thinking of selling one and keeping the last one for my centurion. Let me know if you're interested. I DO NOT have a black one. But the ones I have come with the pin lock fasteners and all the mounting tabs and no cracks.
