My Centurion has some surface rust in the underside of the well where the softtop lives when it's down. This area is impossible to get to with the top up and difficult with it down. Can it be reached through the trunk? If so, how would I remove the fabric "curtain" in the trunk?
Once I can get to it, my plan is to wire brush the rust, apply Rust Bullet and paint.

I can get to mine by just lifting the "bag" for the top when the top is up, from inside the trunk. I suspect that these pieces are going to look a little different on different cars, depending on if they have been replaced or not. I would say just crawl in there (top up) and try to lift it. Then just keep it up so you can get in there with the wire brush, wheel, sand paper etc.

I'm not sure if lifting the "bag" will work, since the rusty panel is on the other side of the bag (between the bag and the convertible top). I think the bag needs to be removed but I'm not sure how. Has anyone done this?
Thanks.

The top well fabric should be attached at the top of the back seat rail, and the lower top frame, enabling you to push the fabric up (from inside the trunk) into the interior area - exposing the rusty metal. I did this so I could paint up there a couple years ago.
This is what it looked like when I pushed the fabric up into the interior area:
