Man, this is just way too much fun for me! Having a good time with my new girl! Even my wife loves her, so I am in like flint!! :xyxthumbs:
However, I must once again come to you "know it all's" for some answers!!
1 - I think I've decided to keep the dash factory. That being said, I need to find a radio. The one in there is in very poor shape! (face plate pushed into the cass, knobs looking poor, etc) Where can I get an am/fm/cass to fit the bezel? Once found, I'll put some new speakers in and at least have some good tunes. May even break out a few old cassettes I have still. Anyone remember Ratt?? (ha, ha, ha......)
2 - I really need to get mats. Looking for any suggestions at this point until we can find someone to make us "repro's". I haven't a clue. Found one place that will do a set with the Buick emblem on them for something like $150. Is that reasonable price?
BTW, it's a 72 ragtop...
More Q & A coming gang!
THANKS!
Steve

Steve, if you're looking for reasonably factory correct floor mats, then wait with us while John Fritz works with Legendary Interiors for a run of mats. They are going to be in the $150-200 price range, if I remember.

RE: Radio - there are various folks parting out their big cars on ebay, and www.v8buick.com (http://www.v8buick.com) a lot of the time.

If I were you, I'd find the correct 71-72 radio bezel as well. Those are fairly easy to find. (you might've already found one for all I know!)

Steve, I see a factory 8 track Buick radio on ebay. I have an 8 track in mine and had Gary Taman electrical in Tampa, Florida install new high power Kenwood guts in the factory 8 track stereo so that it would retain the factory appearance with sound of the new generation. It has RCA inputs on it so that you can connect your mp3 player which means every song is able to be carried with you in your Buick on a memory stick. Everything still looks stock and my 8 track player still works too. Very cool way to go and dont have to cut the dash or mount aftermarket stuff that just doesnt look right. Larry

My 72 came with factory am/fm stereo indash 8 track player that I had new Kenwood guts put inside of it. It sounds really good. I do not think you want one hanging under the dash.

Did the under the dash 8 tracks actually go with the big cars? I always thought in 1971/72 and up Buick had the am/fm 8-track in dash instead. And the Skylark bodied cars had the under the dash units.

I do have to agree that the in dash unit are cleaner looking.

Keith for that unit shown what years is that correct for? Is it 71-and 72 only?
