Hey Rick - I have a 72...... I'm guessing this will fit? What should I be aware of and what do you think this boot will need (other than paint), to make it right? Appreciate the heads up. I'm taking our Mayor in the Memorial Day Parade here in Newark. (Delaware) It will be our first "Official" debut in the Community! :D

Thanks!
Steve

It will fit your car, Steve. There usually is the hardware setup for this boot sold on ebay. I believe Rick knows who it is, that sells it.

It will definitely fit. There is a guy in Europe that makes the hardware he can be found on e-bay (very nice quality). I was going to him but the time frame and headaches on paying and shipping made me look around further. There is a company I found in Florida that makes parts for the sizzer tops along with "how to fix it" type books. The hardware kit was $150. It also has instruction and how to mount the boot once it is ready. Silly as you think, one particular side must go on first. Call them after you get the boot ( Fingers crossed:xyxthumbs: ) You may not need a complete kit. You will definitely need the 2-dzuse fastners that go onto the rear interior panels. This is the link: http://www.hydroe.com/Parts_Scissor.html
Maybe you can reach out to Nick Rabi on this board. If you both don't need a complete kit maybe you guys can split a kit and save some money.

Hydro-E-Lectric also sells remanufactured Parade Boots for $750 plus you will also need all the hardware for another $150. The guy on e-bay sells them too, don't know how much. I am telling you this is case the bidding goes nuts, if it is close to the $750 mark you may want to reconsider and buying a new one instead, or waiting for another to pop up on e-bay.

Good luck, let us know if you get it.

I found my parade boot on ebay under a "parade boot" search for $300. He had it advertised that it was from his Cadillac which will also work on the Buhogs. I purchased the clips that mount to the interior panels from a salvage yard in Florida for $25 and then installed them. Larry

No Rick, I missed it. I was out of town with my wife and when we got home Sunday night, I had missed it!!! :Dou: I am not a happy man!!! Scott, you got a deal!!! I was all over that. Want to sell it and not have to explain it to your wife ????? Just say the word. I am here for you!!! :beers:

Simple solution, get rid of your wife!!!:Brow:

Come on Keith!! He can't do that. He's in love!!! :p
The better option is to let me buy the boot, and not worry about it!
You see, I am scheduled to drive our Mayor in the Memorial Day parade here in Newark DE, and my wife is 1000% behind this purchase! So to help Scott out, I am willing to buy the boot from him, (or the original seller) to help him out. I mean, come on, how much nicer of a guy can I be!?!?!?
I stand ready Scott with money in hand! I'll even pony up a few more dollars for your troubles if I need too......;)

Well guys, I know from experience what an ex will cost and it ain't worth it. You should have hung in there, Steve. I'd made up my mind I wasn't going over $310! I want to get it painted quick as I'm taking it on the HotRod power tour in June. Anybody else going???

Looks good. Steve don't worry they come up frequently and some of us post the links here. Scottrod congrats on the boot. Anyway at least someone on this board won it. Remember guys...."Happy Wife, Happy Life" All I get is, "You got "another" package in the mail today.... and I get that look that says, I'll remember this moment when I want something in return
Hey Adam see what your missing:spank:

Steve we'll be looking out for more of them for ya.

Adam, i think you maybe missed what Rick was eluding to, the WIFE - although maybe I read that into it. If it is the WIFE, Adam, stay single.:confused4:

Keith, only us married guys would get that. If and when Adam gets hooked by a young nice looking lady who's out fishing, we'll have to watch him closely, he may get all gaga over her and start selling everything.

We'll have to take him to Buick counselling and slap him around a bit:laugh:

Yea, my Centurion cost me an enclosed patio, went something like this...

Me: Isn't she BEAUTIFUL!!! My favorite year of "big Buick"!!!

Jodie: What is THAT!!!! It's HUGE!!!! and very, very GREEN!!!!!

Me: She's all original, too! Lots of options, including the big valve heads! Look at all this paperwork that came with her!

Jodie: I want an enclosed patio. I could care less about some "big valve whatevers".

Me: But honey, that will stretch the budget a little right now...don't you

Jodie: WITH a ceiling fan!!!

Me: Yes dear.

Jodie: And not "next year"!!! I want, no, demand it NOW!!!

Me: I love you dear. :Dou:

Well, it didn't go exactly like that, but close!!!

One of the funniest threads yet Brad! We are all here just to make our wives happy. (at least us married guys!) Rick nailed it when he said: "Happy Wife, Happy Life"....... ain't it the truth! :rooleyes2: Wouldn't have it any other way. Just the other day, my secretary said "Good morning Steve, how's your morning going..." I said, "I don't know, has Kelli (my wife) called yet!?!?!"
I'm telling ya, God has a very funny sense of humor!!!

Hey Scott, had I remembered the auction ended Sunday, I'd have gone to $310.01 to get that baby. BUT NOOOO, I was away with that very same wife, ensuring she was HAPPY!!!! :spank:
Can you say WHIPPED?!?!?!
See ya guys,
Steve

Hi Steve.
I don't have a clue what it would cost to ship it. I'll have to box it up and weigh it first. Then it'll be simple.
of course you know i'm in Canada, eh?

Too funny....... ok, give me a day or two to kick it around. However, I am sure what the answer will be. You have all hardware and "stuff" that goes along with it, correct? Do you have instructions for installing it. I haven't a clue!
Thanks !!

I went to the movers today and got a box the right size. I'll weigh it as soon as I get a chance. Just so you know, Rolf "The German" sent me a PM 20 minutes before your reply. He wants it too. I'll keep ya posted.

To let you all know what happened with Novaīs boot:
After talking with Steve with P.mails he agreed that I could buy it and so I did now. The boot is on the trip to Germany!

Steve has more possibilities to find a good parade boot in USA than I have in Germany. He is still searching for one and if there is anyone knowing or finding a source, please help him and send him an information !

Hi guys,
Finally got the boot and it looks to be in great condition. Too bad I don't have a light green convertible since the paint on it is in good shape. It came with all the clips except the parts (2 pieces??) that fasten to the car itself. I hate to buy a complete set for those 2 pieces. I checked Hydro-E-Lectric but they only sell complete kits. Any ideas out there?

Yes, I saw that this member on ebay had an offer for such parts some weeks ago : paradeboots_com. But as I remember he had a high price for them; you can find it out : ask him with an email on ebay !

Thats too high for a used one. You can buy a new one for just over $700 plus another 150 for the hardware. I would wait now and let it go.

The German
05-12-2007, 05:51 AM
Yes, now the price is much too high; it was at US$ 350 when I posted it here ! So what I have seen up to now the normal price range is between US$ 280 to 380 for a used boot of good quality (no cracks and breaks, all parts to fix it in good condition).

Perhaps thatīs a reason for higher prices too: the last high price sold boots were titled "Cadillac Eldorado ... "; perhaps owners of such cars are used to spend more money for their cars (?) !

And of course - I agree with you, Keith - itīs the season for convertibles now.
