I try to figure out what type of Rear axle I have on my Centurion.
I found the number 480632 just to the right of the diff house looking from behind

Feels like the engine have a rather high rpm on the highway. Maybe I get this impression due to that I’m used to 4 and 5 speed automatic on my other cars, I’m not sure.

Was the Positive Traction Differential common on the Centurion?

usually posi rear ends have a tag on one of the housing bolts.
You can also tell by jacking up the pumpkin and rotating a wheel forward.
If both wheels turn the same direction(forward) it should be a posi rear end.
You can also look under the rear seat for the build sheet.

Thanks for the three tips Gashog,
I need to add some oil since the level is low, therefore I want to exclude the possibility that I have a Positive Traction Diff axle since such requires special oil.
I guess a fourth way of finding out could be to see if one or both rear wheels spin in a flying start:Brow:
The ratio is of course interesting as well, I’ll be looking for that build sheet under my rear seat.
