This is the first season that I've really driven the 73, and it's starting to take a toll on the old brittle convertible top. It's starting to crack and fray on the welting around the edges. This one is from 1976, and it looked great until I started putting it up and down every weekend. I can tell a new top is in my future. I don't have a local trim guy, and I'm almost never happy with the way convertible tops fit on scissor top cars. Does anyone know of a good convertible top guy in the midwest? I'm willing to drive a little for top quality work.

Randy, I can't help you with an installer but I will tell you the brand of top that was put on my/your 69 - Electron Top manufacturing Co
I firmly believe the quality of the top has as much to do with fit and appearance as any other aspect.

Thanks Keith! Electron is my brand of choice too. The top on the Electra still looks perfect btw!

Another good top for scissors is the ez-on top. Scissor tops are one of the hardest tops to install. Buying a cheap top is not advised and will show. Also most people wont spend on other essential parts needed to have their top right. Make sure the second bow pivot balls and parts attached are in good shape, the drive cables, and the quarter rail bushings. They have a bushing kit on ebay for these frames. Your top will last longer if it functions properly.
