Guys, I had to remove my fuel tank to have it lined. Upon replacing it, my fuel gauge no longer works. I've carefully checked the connections at the rear (ground and sending unit connections are without doubt good. Any suggestions on how I can determine whether or not the gauge itself has gone bad?

I suppose it is possible, during all the moving things about, I may have stretched the sending unit wire? Perhaps it broke inside the insulation? Really bummed, as I'm only getting about 8 mpg, and scared to get on road trips... don't want to run empty!

Any tips for troubleshooting would be most appreciated.

I would start investigate the fuel sender itself and measure the resistance
I believe it goes from 0 to 90 Ohm
I've that is OK than check the wiring near the fuel tank
Because that are the only things that have moved
I can imagine that the wiring is old and brittle there
