Its already at 127. and still over a day left. Its an NOS new old stock 1973 Centurion trunk emblem. I was going to take a stab at it, but not now. I bought an extra one (new old stock never mounted) at the Buick Centenial Meet for $25 bucks, and I thought that was high back them:Dou: My guess this piece will hit $250. Good luck for those bidders.

Getting there...$192.50 less then an hour left.
My wife just saw the e-bay thread. She remarked she was going to go thru the garage (my side) and scourer thru my spare parts for the GS and Centurion and e-bay them :Dou: . She always remarks to me that she never sees when I get these parts, its as if they mysteriously multiply. :rooleyes2: Acually it's 8:30 am and I have to get into her mini van before she goes out shopping today....I have my nos Lesabre/Centurion fender inside it as I brought it home last night:Brow: ...My spare parts collection has just mysteriously multiplied:laugh:
Guys, this is why it is important to hit as many swap meets, you never know you may find those spare parts for bargin prices. Also do keep an eye on e-bay, sometimes deals do pop up. First and most important just ask on this site, there are members here that may sell you a part for a decent price without all the bargaining hassles.
I am in process on collecting spare body trim, emblems, chrome and sheet metal on my Centurion. I'm almost there, got extras on all emblems, and all chrome & trim pieces even a complete convertible sizzer top with a glass defroster back window. Yes Adam also a spare chrome trunk trim molding, got it off a parts car a few years back. My goal is to get in the best condition as possible any and every non repro'ed part as a spare. Otherwise unfortunately to the buyers that need the part, you become victim to an over inflated e-bay price war. Though good for the seller it stinks for the buyer that really needs the part.
One last advise. If you have the room. Scour the buy-lines for an old beat up LeSabre/Centurion. I do and if the price is like 2 grand I make a deal with another Buick guy, we split the price and he gets the engine trans I take the body.

Bidding is over unfortunately I feel a Nigerian scammer jumped in, so common with e-bay. I cannot see this part going for that much. Check out the history on the winning bidder. It looks like a kids with all bik and train set stuff. I bet his e-bay ID was stolen and is being used now.
I was watching it steady at 197. then with 45 seconds jumped to over 300. then right up to $1,027 bucks from new bidders. Well my opinion is unless the seller recorded the buyers e-mails earlier this bid will be closed and the item will be re-bidding.
THis happend to me when my son was selling a PSP game system. It was up to 198. and in the last minute f&cking nigerians scammed another person's id bumped it up to 616 dollars. Then the nigerian e-mails came in. "Mail the item to my cousin BaBoo (sp) in nigeria and I will be sending you a cashiers check etc etc.... I didn't get the next realistic buyers address quick enough for a second chance sale and e-bay went and dumped my entire sale. Had to re-sell the item again.
It was a real life lesson to my son on scam artists out there. These bastards should be shot!

Rick, I believe you may be right. I've been following it also and don't believe it either. This 727sport hasn't bought a single car part since he's been on ebay and now he's bidding over a grand for this. Doesn't make sense. I also thought maybe the seller was in kahoots with this member to see what his part might bring. Hypothetically, If I knew I was going to be on ebay at the very end of the auction, I wouldn't bid till then. This guy put 5 bids in. In almost seems to me like he was trying to jack the price up.
Also, I'm interested in the car parts your selling. I just picked up another 73 convertible from California with no rust, but corrosion on the chrome interior parts because the guy lived close to the ocean. Still looking for trunk trim for my 72, but have just about everything else NOS for it.
I love the color of your 73, mine is the lovely avocado green with the off white interior, so I'm pretty sure I'll be changing it to your color. No offense to the other avocado green Centurion owners that read this, just not my style. Take Care, Mark

Rick, I just read through your post again and didn't realize what you were saying; You want to have spares of everything and aren't selling anything. My bad:Dou:

Not a problem I just edited my post adding that I was "collecting spare parts" I wasn't clear on my post. On my end it was early morning the caffeine hadn't kicked in yet.
I would keep a close eye out on e-bay for this possibly to be re-listed. Oh just to let you know I'm not bidding on that. I already have an extra and feel its not fair to just hord these pieces when there are people out there that need it.
Here is a tech tip on those emblems. Over the years the clear becomes faded and not clear so you can't see the helmet head. With my original that was about the case. I spend a few weeks while watching late night TV wet sanding the clear cover of the emblem with a emery cloth doing it very softly repeatedly. After a few days all the foggy film was gone and the emblem looked clear and nearly new. I re-installed it back on my car. So if you find a fogged over one real cheap, grab it, a little time and patience with it will pay off.
The color on my Centurion well hate to say it is ..."Mazda". Yep,
Mazda 13B red, paint code DBU5177 CA Deltron Universal Basecoat. I was told it now goes for around $150 a pint, but a paint does go a long way.
My body guy who painted my GS along with my Centurion suggested buying an over the counter type paint that needs no special mixes. In case the car needs touch ups or repairs the paint shade will definitely match. Proof on that was some 9 years later after he painted the car I gave him the parade boot to be painted along with the same left over can of paint I still had. It matched perfectly, (I have photos posted on another thread)
Anyway thats the poop on the color. Good luck parts hunting:xyxthumbs:

I’m having the same problem with the lid on my trunk emblem; it’s so foggy that you barely see the helmet.
Rick, I’m trying to translate your method which seems very interesting. Could you please explain to me about the emery cloth? My English-Swedish dictionary can’t spread any light of what it is, but I guess its some kind of sandpaper?
Thanks

OK First off the trunk emblem is riveted on the car. Carefully drill out the rivets so you can remove the emblem. It's a lot easier taking your time doing it on you lap with a small bowl of soapy water. I learned this on my own because I had no other choice I figured on trying it and it worked.
This site may help to explain it:
http://shorinternational.com/Emery.htm
***Whether it is emery cloth or emery paper get the finest (smoothest less course) paper you can find.***
I had mild soapy water in a small bowl and constantly kept rubbing the emblem with the emory being careful not to apply a lot of pressure otherwise you will dig in scratches. Always keep the emery wet with the soapy water. It is time consuming. That is why I left this job for when I was in front of the TV. While watching TV I would just keep rubbing it with the emery doing this a little bit each night. After every few minutes I would dip the emblem in the water and dry it off. Each time it seemed to get a little more clearer. When you get it clear to see and your done you can polish it with a resin polish or a good glaze polish.

Thanks Rick,
I see the picture in front of me now. I assume the emery cloth is the kind you would use when doing a paint job on a car, the type you use with water. We call that water sand paper.
I got an extra Trunk Lock Cover emblem with the car that I could work on. I guess I’ll be seeing a lot of late night TV from now on…;)

I'm just inquiring as to how many of these NOS trunk lock covers does everyone think are still out there? I'm not sure on the total number of 73 Centurions built except the convertibles at 5739, I believe. I'm pretty sure it's the highest production numbers compared to 71 and 72. So I'm thinking there's gotta be a lot of these out there "somewhere":confused4:
Does anyone think that a bunch of these will turn up 5 to 10 years down the line? I see them pop up on ebay maybe once every 2 or 3 years. I've talked to a lot of guys that deal in NOS stuff and I think they're still stuck in the 50's and 60's stuff. I don't think they realize the demand for the 70's stuff quite yet. Love to know what everyone thinks. Mark

I still say this bidding was hi-jacked by scammers. Only way we'll know for sure if the owner re-bids it or someone knows the owner who lets him know. Just go on the site and check out the top three bidders. Especially the winning bidder. Just makes no sense.
Like I said it happened to me when I was selling a PSP Game system. THe winning bidder looked real but the poor kids info was hi-jacked by nigerian scum bags trying to scam the seller in this case was me.
The emblem going for up around 150 to 200 sounds about it for an NOS in box. Anything more I would be suspicious. Now if you are talking 3.23 gears or 3.42's well that may be another story:rooleyes2:

Looks like the hardware (clips and fastners) is in great shape. I got my boot around $280, suprisingly I was the only one who bid. I guess it slipped by the prying eyes on this board:laugh: Anyway the hardware was kinda old so I ended up buying a new kit. Anyway buying these boots new runs close to a grand, so what you paid for was good.
You will need to install the two female fastener on the interior panels. Measure it out carefully before you install them. I don't think your boot has this, as it only has the male end of the fastners. There is a company called Hydro-e-lectic that has all the stuff you need. They are based out of Florida. They also sell the fabric storage covers for the hard boots.
http://www.hydroe.com/Parts_Scissor.html
If you can't find the part call them. They are in the kit so I am sure they will be able to sell you just those. I ended up drilling out the orginal male fastners from my boot as they were rusted a bit. Placed the boot on the car and marked where the female ends of the fastner has to be installed. My kit came with all new fastners (both ends).
Maybe someone else on here can lend some advise too.
There is also a guy from the Netherlands on E-Bay that sells them. When you get your boot and have any questions give me a call.
