Anyone have any ideas about making a device to pre lube the engine prior to start up?
Should I remove the intake manifold and apply some oil to cam and lifters?
How about over filling prior to startup to soak the crankshaft in oil?
The engine is a low mileage original which hasn't been started for at least 10 years.
Thanks for any suggestions.

You will need an oil priming tool, which www.taperformance.com (http://www.taperformance.com) sells for around $20.

As soon as you have the tool, remove the distributor (making note of where the housing AND the rotor are positioned). WHen you look down the distributor hole, you will see where to insert the priming tool. You will need a 3/8 drill with some torque. Run the drill with the priming tool attached. You should start to feel a lot of resistance. This is the oil running through the engine. If you do NOT feel resistance, the oil pump must be removed, packed with vaseline, reinstalled, and primed again. The vaseline will help suck the oil into the pump from the pan.
