It's always interesting to me when I see a Centurion sell or listed for sale. I did some research trying to establish a value for mine and I confess I have no idea. Using all the usual old car guides, NADA, Kelley, Hemmings, etc., the values range from $7,500 all the way to $18,880 for a 1971 convertible in 3+ condition. Thats another issue as I see junk to jewels listed as "2" or "3" condition.
So, if we can agree the car is a good driver with no major flaws but has the usual minor cosmetic issues (scratches, dings, NOT rust), what is the car worth with a newly rebuilt 455 and TH400? I'm considering a stated value insurance policy in the $10,000 to $12,000 area. Truthfully, I have 12 in it but that doesn't mean it would sell for that. Any thoughts from those of you that have a longer standing with Centurions?
Also, since only 2,1xx convertibles were built in 1971, how is it that a Chevrolet Caprice convertible is worth 25 to 30% more even though they are much more common?

Thanks, Keith. I agree with your assessment but I was stunned when a friend's 75 Caprice convertible sold for $7,000 with a 350 2v, 138,000 miles, badly cracked dash, and 2 good-sized holes in the top. Granted, it is a red/white color combo but the paint is a poor Maaco overcoat. Go figure. Makes me wonder what we can do to better promote our cars. Lots of folks (even over 50) have to ask what kind of car I drive. I wonder if we couldn't get Hemmings Classic Car magazine to do a write up on Centurions and this forum. They seem to enjoy older cars that aren't quite as mainstream. Oh well, I must have a case of cabin fever. Think I'll get out for a ride this afternoon since it's finally over 70 outside.

Please don't do that until AFTER I've bought mine. They're expensive enough right now!:bawl:

I was considering buying my car for strickly an investment, but have rethought my priorities.
After spending a lot of time researching the vehicle,I think I'm just going to keep it bone stock as a daily driver in the summer months.
Guess I'll be building a bigger garage.
:beers:
