Shaffer asked this question on the v8 board. I thought I'd spread the question to other eyes who might have an idea on a number.

I know someone on the Pontiac forums whose brother bought a 1971 LeSabre 4dr sedan with a 3-speed manual (with column shift) and he wants to know how many were so equipped if its even known. I know its rare for sure. I told him I would try to find out and report back.

Any info appreciated!

Although I have 71 and 72 Centurion data, due to the costs involved, I never obtained it for LeSabres of the same period. However, the stick shift 71 LeSabres have to be exceedingly rare. You need to remember that the Turbo Hydramatic was an option for 71 LeSabres but the number that came that way must be amazingly low. If you recall the 71-72 Bugle article from last year, Pete Phillips mentioned the existence of one known 71 LeSabre sedan from the state of Maine and later in the year, that car was also advertised for sale in The Bugle. The Sloan Museum would have these records if anyone in the Flint area would care to spend some time researching it. One would have to check the standard LeSabre sedan, 2 door hardtop and 4 door hardtop plus the LeSabre Custom sedan, 2 door hardtop, 4 door hardtop and convertible to get the exact total for the whole series plus a breakdown by model.
