Hi Everyone! I had a question regarding replacing my driver side taillight on my 1972 Buick Centurion. In order to remove the entire assembly, is it necessary to unbolt or unhook the entire rear bumper. My bumper partially covers the bottom portion of the tail lights. I was wondering if there is a difference between the 71's and the 72's or it could be that my rear bumper is partially bent.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Loosen the 4 bolts that attach the bumper brackets to the frame itself. the bumper should drop down enough for you to get the taillights out. It should just slide back up in the same place when finished.

Are you referring to the taillights or bumper 71-72? Both are different cosmetically, but will interchange.

I was referring whether the bumpers are the same or not.? I've seen some pixs where the 71's don't cover the bottom portion of the tail lights whereas my 72's rear bumper does cover the bottom of the tail lights. I will take your suggestion and loosen the bolts of the bumper to the frame. I am swapping the tail light because the red amber light is melted. I'll keep ya posted.

Thank you.

The only difference in 71 to 72 bumpers, is the addition of the rubber strips along the top edges.

Thanks for the information. I just remembered another question, did you repaint the top grey fiberglass portion that covers the tailights? If so, what type of paint did you use. mine could use some love.

I used a flat silver/light argent paint on the last few. Same color on the metal "gutters" just under the taillights.
