There needs to be an additional section added for modified Centurions and items pertaining to non-stock questions! I for one, and I am sure others really don't care to look or read about the modifications (to some of us the ruination) of these great cars.

Kurtis, that sounds like a reasonable idea to add to the Forum. While I'm glad to see just about any Centurion being saved and driven, as someone who grew up with these cars when they were new, it can be painful and difficult for a purist to see some of these "improvements". Obviously, the owner of the vehicle can and will make it whatever they want it to be and I can respect that. But it would also be nice for those who enjoy and appreciate the modifications to have a direct avenue to show their vehicles and discuss those modifications. I don't think they would need to be restricted to that one area but it'd be a convenient place for the modifieds to be found in one category.

Time for me to jump back on as I want to weigh in on this.

I do agree that each and every person should be allowed to do with their own car what they see fit. I do also agree that there needs to be a separate section for modified cars, questions concerning modifying a Centurion, etc.

My main concern on melting the purist/original type posts with those that want to do their own thing is the loss of whats really correct on these cars. Every time a Centurion is modified, there is much less chance that it will ever be brought back to being proper. It also makes it harder for each subsequent owner to know what's really right or wrong on their car. By having a "modified" section, restorers browsing the site will be able to concentrate their efforts on the section that best suits their needs. The danger is someone wanting to do a proper restoration seeing some cars that have been modified and assuming what they see is correct and proper.

All of our goals are keeping the fabulous Centurions on the road and preserved, but it should not be at the expense of loosing the true heritage of this grand marque/automobile and that is what's being done.

We must strive to maintain what is accurate, correct and proper for these cars!!

As seen below, I am a purist.

Keith, really great to see you back again here ! :xyxthumbs:

Guess the purists words are more necessary in a world of Foose- and other Overhauling-TV-Shows which sometimes have a strange influence on people who are restoring their cars.

I agree,IT IS "impotant "(nice spelling on that LOL!)IMPORTANTto preserve as many as we can,as Keith said It perfectly ,we all have to live in the same box,Me personally, original all the way to the hose clamps!HOWEVER, We dont own these cars, others do,and regardless ,alot of hard work ,sweat ...and money goes into ANY restoraton/restification/ restomod, call it what you want. the guys who are doing the mods probably say the same about us!ALL of the big B bodies are seeing this trend, take a walk on ebay (before dinner, not after)while we may not all agree ,if we cant say anything positive or a praise for hard work, dont say anything!NO ONE wants to or deserves to hear there efforts for hard work bashed by others unless they want an honest opinion. What i dont get about this forum is its ALWAYS the same people doing all the talking and the SAME ones doing all the listening, why doesnt anyone else ever chime in or contribute to these discussions, we could be missing out on alot of knowledge OR we could all have a good laugh!

Hopefully, one thread will be enough to keep the Modified lovers corralled and from bleeding into the general area's. I think going a little further and having a section devoted to the various area's of their interest may be best. But this is a start, hopefully Adam will watch and add a section if needed.

I see where you're coming from, Kurtis. I'll have to play with it this weekend, though...not much time to mess around on the boards lately.

Kurtis, I guess I would be like Adam, Nick and a few others being like Doctor Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde. Loving the stock appearing Buicks yet a soft spot for that racing feeling of your cheeks being sucked into your face.

Rick,

And there is nothing wrong with that, and a section devoted to the modified Centurion's will benefit you also. You will be able to go to the regular sections for your Doctor Jeckyll days, and you can go to the modified section when your feeling a little like Mr. Hyde. See, It's all good!!
