Web bots and such....

I notice when I click on the "Whose Online" area @ the bottom that during last night and this morning there are users which are called bots....MSNBot Spider .......Google Spider and there were a couple of more, are these kinda spam robots that lurk and pull info and email addys and such? Just curious and wondering if they could do any harm or hacking if allowed?

Those are bots for search engines that gather information to enlarge their search pool when people use their services...they're everywhere, and harmless.
