I had just turned seventeen years old when the Centurion was introduced during the fall of 1970. Already a car enthusiast and committed Buick fan, I had been interested in the series since it was first announced that the Wildcat would be replaced with a new model in Buick's lineup. My parents were among the early buyers of the Centurion, and their Centurion has remained in continuous family ownership since new.

Here's the link to my car's story, as recorded in my entry for the Centurion Registry:

Thanks for joining the board, Brian. I think it was you that actually filled me in on the significance and intrigue of these cars. It's all been downhill from there:D

I realized this morning that my first drive in the Centurion was 36 years ago today. The weather is too nasty to take her out for a spin, but I went to the garage and gave the beautiful old beast an anniversary "pat" on the fender.

That's one beautiful car and a great story. I've noticed both you and Adam referring to your cars as "formal" coupes. Was there a "sport" coupe, too, and, if so, what were the differences between the two models? Thanks.
