Regarding the Hollander book, is it book #49 that covers 1973-1983? I am looking to get a hold of a copy, just need to know if I am on the right track. photo below.

Rick,
As I stated in your rear end thread, I bought a 3 book set from Hollander.com. It covers 65-79 and includes chassis book, engine book, and body parts book. I bought that versus big book because that is what I wanted. Set me back about $120 delivered.

Would you look in the body parts book and see if it lists the accessory sideview mirror that mounts on the passenger door of `71-73 Centurions and LeSabres? The accessory part number was 981724 and I'm curious to see if it was also used by Oldsmobile on its `71-73 Delta 88 models. Thanks.

Boscoe,
Checked my Hollander and mirrors are not listed. However, I am almost positive that the mirrors from Buick and Olds Full size cars interchange. I bought a NOS Drivers Olds mirror and putting it on 1973 Buick Centurion I just bought. It is identical except for that I need to paint or tape in the black pin stripe in two small grooves on front of indents. My car does not have a passenger mirror, but there are a boatload of Full size Olds mirrors out there. Be careful on bases though. The 1971 to 1973 Buick Centurion passenger mirrors have a 4.5 inch base that attaches to door. Olds mirrors and some Buicks went to a smaller base some time in late 70s. You can get the smaller base mirrors brand new aftermarket for cheap. I recommend keeping the left and right bases the same at 4.5 inches. I know a yard in Wisconsin that had a few rt mirrors. I plan on going up there in a few weeks to see if they are still there. Let me know and I will see if I could pull one off for you.

Will,
Yes, I'd appreciate it if you would look for one the next time you go to the yard. The one I need would come off a 1971 or 1972. It has a base that secures to the door with two screws. In `73 Buick changed the base to one with two studs that went into holes drilled in the door and was secured from inside the door with nuts. The `71-72 model did not require getting inside the door. It could all be done from the outside.
If you can find one of the `71-72 mirrors in excellent shape I'd like to have it. As scarce as they seem to be you might want to buy as many as you find. They could finance your retirement!
Also, if you find a `71-72 Centurion, LeSabre, Electra, or even a Riviera with column shift, that has a tilt wheel steering column in it, I am interested in one. I need it to be in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition and complete enough that all I need to do is transfer my steering wheel to it. If you can get inside a car and verify that the column and tilt feature are in good working order, ask the yard what they want for it and how much to yank it and ship it Zip Code 20817. Or, if you are inclined to remove it yourself, figure me a price and let me know.
Thanks.
Here's a picture of the correct mirror on Keith's `72.

Interesting info!
That should get the odds up a bit finding a passenger mirror!
Thanks for sharing

Boscoe,
When I do get up to Wisconsin, I will look for the rt mirror and tilt column. What color tilt column are you looking for? It makes my life easier pulling a 71/72 right mirror without going into the door.
If you don't want to wait, there is a tilt column on Milwaukee craigslist for a 1971 Riviera. The guy has it out of the car ready to ship. You may need to paint.

Is this the kind of Oldsmobile mirror you were refering to?

They may be the ones, but it is difficult to see from photos if the base is 4.5inches. My experience tells me that there were 2 sizes. 4.5 and the smaller based that came in the later 70s.

The bases look shorter than the ones on Keith's car. If your car was missing both mirrors and you didn't care if they were the original type or not, you could install both and have dual remote control mirrors. I vaguely recall seeing a setup where the passenger mirror control stick was in the dashboard to the right of the steering wheel.

I've got one of those remote passenger mirrors that came with my replacement doors. The remote joystick was sitting in the right bezel if I'm not totally out of it. I didn't take the bezel since it was in no good shape, but I think I took the holder for the joystick.

I looked at the ad in Milwaukee. I'm looking for a black one to match my interior and this column looks to be blue, but I could paint it. I can't quite tell from the picture if it is column shift or not. I think so, but I may have to give him a call.
I don't want to weigh you down with my shopping list, but I'm also looking for an original am/fm radio, the passenger side rear wheel opening molding, and the stainless trim piece that runs from the passenger side rear wheel opening to the back of the quarter panel.
Please don't feel obligated to look for all this stuff. If it's right there in front of you, ok, but don't waste your day looking for stuff for me. Only pull the wheel molding and quarter panel trim if they are mint, as the ones I already have are very presentable with only a couple of flaws. If you find an original am/fm radio that looks good I'm interested. It doesn't actually have to work since I can have the guts rebuilt or replaced with modern electronics. I'm looking to replace the non-working am radio that came with my car.
Will, I thank you in advance for trying to find any of this stuff for me.

Boscoe,
Tilt column on ebay. Really nice, but would need to be painted. It has Chevy levers, but you could probably use your old one. Look under Caprice tilt column.

Thanks for the heads up but I think I must have missed it. I looked this morning when I got into work and got your message, but didn't see one of the right vintage. I wonder if someone got it with a BIN?

Hi 72gsx4me,
I bought a tilt wheel column out of a `72 Centurion convertible from French Lake Auto Parts in Annandale, Minnesota, so please take that off my shopping list when you go to the yard in Wisconsin. Thanks.
P.S. I asked them to check on mirrors, etc., but haven't heard back.

Speedy,
Just looked at the Hollander and you don't have a lot of choices.
For a 1973 Buick Centurion convertible, your choices for quarters are:
1971 or 1972 Buick Lesabre Convertible
1971 to 1973 Buick Centurion Convertible
Hope this helps.

Happy New Year, nope my Hollander wont even list it. And i have been in search for months and havent found them. You can go with newer models 74 75 76 77 full size buicks but none of them will be direct fit. Hope other memebers know more.

Could you please tell me if the quarter windows from a '73 Centurion convertible interchange with other GM models/years? Also, I pulled a tilt column out of a '74 lesabre convertible- is it the same as a '73? Thank you in advance! John
