My booster developed a really nasty vacuum leak a couple weeks ago, so I thought I would get a "correct" looking booster from one of the A body suppliers. It came on Friday, so I ripped into it and found a beautiful new gold cadmium plated brake booster!

Little did I know, the 71 and up big car boosters are completely different than the booster I bought. I had the old one out of the car and set them side by side on the work bench and instantly knew I was in trouble. The big car booster is almost 2 inches THICKER than the new one. The rod for the new booster is different, and I would've had to do some major modifications to make it work with my brake pedal.

So, I went to O'Reilly and ordered a remanufactured one for $100. Of course, it was a dull sandblasted grey metal color. I had to do my little trick cad paint job on it before I installed it.

My engine compartment has seen better days! (especially after two engine transplants)...

The engine compartment looks factory stock to me and i wish that mine looked like that
Hope to make progress in that direction this winter :D
I know that you like yours very neat but that isnt what they did in the factory :confused4:
Keep up the good work

Thanks for the heads up about the brake booster. I would've guessed they'd be similar.

I think you need to clean up that mess under the hood. I think I can see 3 seperate peices of dirt in there, although 1 might be a camera smudge.
