I got an offer for a SP1 intake.
I´m considering to take that manifold.
But I´m not sure about it.
Will the SP1 clear my hood?
I want to use the Q-jet and
my modified air cleaner assembly.
The SP1 is 1.75 inches taller than stock.
Do you think a single plane is a good choice for a heavy car?
I don´t want to put it on my stock motor.
I would use it if I have to build a motor now.

I only have generic knowledge to offer. Single plane intakes are supposed to be better for higher rpm's, with a penalty in lower rpms.

For street driving torque is the priority you will probably feel less power with a single plane because you'll rarely hit the rpms where this manifold shines.

If you're doing some quarter mile racing then the higher horsepower of a single plane can be worth the trade off in torque. It will make the engine a little softer off the line and stronger at the top end rush.

The key to any engine is matching the components. A single plane intake with a street cam can produce less power than a stock engine. The cam is fading just as the intake is reaching it's power band. The SP-1 with a lumpy cam will not reach its potential without higher flowing heads.

On the V8 Buick board there is a thread with the components each person chose and the horsepower and torque figures they deliver. I suggest you review that thread and duplicate the build that best suits your driving style. Take advantage of the testing and sorting that's been done and get a combination that works.
