Hi there,

There have been threads about upgrading the stereos in Centurions without cutting up the dash. I've recently been doing some research and there are some very tasty alternatives out there.

This article lists out several options.

I love the this one:

4 X 45 watts RMS output allows up to 180 watts of audio power!

AM/FM “Roll-over” dial scale looks and works like original!

AM or FM band selected with slide-bar like original!

Analog controls look and feel like the original radio!

All controls easily accessible. Volume, bass, treble, balance, fader and tuning from original looking controls!

MP3, IPOD, CD or XM (satellite) inputs included!

7/16” shafts for mounting exactly match original radio!

LED dial lights will never need replacing!

Digitally tuned AM/FM/Stereo front end provides stable, high quality reception!

Amber stereo indicator! Dial face lights green!

You deserve the best - don’t settle for less!

European channel spacing optional!

Custom Auto sounds radios have not received good reviews in the past but they are supposed to be releasing an improved version soon.

I'm also taking a close look at the Retrosound radio. I particularly like the remote and IR extender which would make it easy for a passenger to operate the radio.

There are many more options out there so be sure you spend some time looking over the alternatives.

Do you have the stock radio? What stereo do you have in? AM/FM ?
There are some amplifiers out there with "High power" Inputs. So you can connect them to the speaker wires of your orig. stereo and get out a good powerfl sound.
So you are able to connect 4 new speakers to the amp.
That will keep the old stereo and you´ll get a nice sound.
If you want you can connect one of those new transmitors to your antenna.
You just have to connect one side to the cars antenna and the other side to the antenna input on the stereo. If the ipod or something else is in use, you can listen to that. If you turn the ipod off you receive the am/fm radio a normal.

In that case you could connect whatever you want, get a good sound and look 100% stock.
Maybe you like the idea. I´m going to do te same thing on my car in the next weeks.
